I am thinking of getting this only for Neogeo games on VC, I cant think of many games I would buy on the Wii itself that would require an arcade stick.

I wish the VSHG would work with all systems since it is USB, I use it mainly on my PC and PS3 but it is sooo good.

I'm considering ordering an arcadeinabox stick for the 360 out of sheer laziness. I just have to get around to actually designing the image.

Unless of course, someone can hook me up with a good builder, willing to piece together a PS2/360 stick ;D

Chippermonky's Hori DOA4 Stick Mod
I can vouch for this mod. The Hori DOA4/VF5 stick is solid, but adding the octagonal gate totally ups the "arcade" feel. I put on a bat top too, and now SF2 Hyper Fighting feels like it's supposed to. Stick also works great for MAME (with the Windows XP XBCD driver).

For anyone looking forward to SNK fighters on the Wii, you'll love the unmodded Hori stick. I used to own a Neo Geo AES home unit, and the ball tops, the buttons, and the "clickiness" felt very, very similar.

Yes both do!

If you're not too hardcore about having arcade parts, it's a decent stick. I think they go for around $39.99 now? That's a good price. It does the job. My only complaint with it is the way the buttons are slanted for the default face buttons, it is pretty retarded as no Japanese arcade style setup ever haves you curve in the opposite direction like the FS3.

It gets the job done. I've heard people having problems with Vista and the stick though. Personally I have no problem setting it up with MAME/Final Burn or whatever.

Depends on what type you want...

US style or JPN style? (Teardrop vs lollipop/bat vs ball)...

If you're going for US style stick, I'd recc either a custom or the Street Fighter Anniversary Stick from Nuby Tech(RIP). Just modd em with Happ parts or get a Happ modded one. Another good choice is a MAS Systems arcade stick.

For Japanese style. Go for a custom stick or you can try to track down a Fighting Stick EX... although they are pretty rare nowadays.

They look like this:

Well it would be my first one, and I am only concerned about an arcade stick on PS3 and from what I saw, there isn't a wide variety of affordable choices... Virtua Fighter 5 and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix are on my radar...

This thread makes me very happy in my pants!

I've been looking for a good arcade stick option for my PC. A friend of mine suggested getting a good PS2 stick and just using a PS2 -> USB adaptor. What are your guys' recommendations? I absolutely refuse to play a single fighter with this gamepad anymore :(

edit: I should probably note that I'm not terribly good at fighting games, but I really want to get better, hence my wanting to purchase an arcade stick, but that being sad, I'm not about to spend $100 on an X-Arcade stick just yet.

Well yea the sad fact is, not many GOOD out the box arcade sticks came out for the original Xbox. :( So a lot of people had customs made to fit their needs.

For the casual gamer, the stick does it's job. It is very affordable and is built very well. Sticks are really all based on preference. If you like how it feels and you can perform how YOU want to on it, then stick to it.

The Pelican PS2 > PS3 USB adapter is good if you want to use a PS2 stick on the PC. As far as X-Arcade goes, I'd stay away from it. X_X

I'm curious as to why you say that? Overpriced? Shitty products?

Anyway, the Pelican USB adapter looks really nice, so that's probably what I'm going to go with. As far as a PS2 arcade stick, I'm going to browse some of the links you posted, but if you happen to have any good recommendations off the top of your head I'm all ears. Just to reiterate, I'm willing to put down the cash for a great quality product, but the key is value here, I don't want to spend money on something I don't really need. Thanks!

His transparent bottom on the sticks is a unique touch too...

As far as X-Arcade goes. Yes, overpriced. And Shitty. More shitty because of the pricing.

It isn't terrible. But I won't say it is good either.

I'm planning on getting a new arcade stick later this month, but I'm torn between the VSHG or HRAP 3. I need a stick that's durable, BC with PS2/PS1 games, and one that's comfortable.
Any help would be appreciated.

it was my original, but it needs clear seimitsu (sp?)buttons and I want to go with sanwa this time. I also would rather have it on a larger stick. I'll get a Seimitsu custom next year.
This was the other art I was possibly going to use.

http://poiuytre1255.free.fr/pics/colos/wyv14.jpg

EDIT: Also, Kaytrim's designs are improving pretty drastically, always cool to see someones art develop.

It really depends on what you'll be playing...

Both are fine for PS2/PS1 games.

VSHG is crap for Tekken though... it has problems with only T5DR on PS3 for 2 or more inputs simulateously... X_X

It sucks too because I think the VSHG is the best retail stick ever X_X....

Custom. Pretty much everything was picked by me. Case, art, color scheme, parts, etc.

It ran a bit high compared to most sticks, but I would say it's worth it just based on the aesthetic details.

That's really disappointing, I love playing Tekken--and I was leaning towards the VSHG since it has Sanwa components. This is a tough decision now.
