IGN reviews Rock Band (If you wanna play solo, get the drums) #1

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/836/836118p1.html

10 Presentation
Simply amazing. The Band World Tour offers a fantastic new take on a career mode for a music game. The on-stage antics are above and beyond anything from Guitar Hero.
8.0 Graphics
The character models are nice and the 40+ venues have excellent detail.
9.0 Sound
Some of the 45 tracks offered are really not that great. But everything sounds good and having the crowd signing songs with you is an awesome experience.
9.0 Gameplay
There's no doubt that many of the guitar sections are meant for a more casual audience. The drums and vocals make up for this though. Band World Tour is solid.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
There are only 45 licensed tracks, and not all of them are great songs. But the BWT has legs and the upcoming downloadable content should extend the lifespan considerably.

9.4 Overall

not another beat game. i wish they'd spend their time making other games. every system has a music/beat game now, why can't they make anything new

Sarcasm? You want Harmonix to make an RPG?

Are you really that desperate to talk about a review outside of the beautiful thread I built you? It's right there on the first page! I wrote REVIEW in all caps!!

Classier, too.

"OMG RAWK *devil horns*" can only go so far, and it seems that Harmonix knew it was time to move on.

Or maybe the thread should just be locked. After all there is a cleverly titled review thread where this review is already being discussed...

Not when it comes to guitar though, apparently. Which means it's kinda like saying Rock Band > Singstar. It's not a direct comparison.

Anyway, let's all leave this thread.

There needs to be a rule for this or something. I've seen single review threads closed because there was a review thread, and now a review thread is getting closed. Pretty inconsistent.

What?! You'd rather have shitty review discussions taking up multiple threads than being quarantined? I don't understand.

I only started one because I saw the tidy 50 page Super Mario one...

To be fair, that Galaxy review thread only contains a few of the reviews. A good deal of them got their own thread. The bigger problem, to me, is the reasoning behind having multiple threads open to the, ah, blessings that review discussions bestow.

I was going to skip this but might have to cave. I tend to get the most out of music games anyhow even if I suck at them.

I suck at the drums, but I do like it. Given that I paid more than $170 for a (official yet REALLY shitty quality) DrumMania PS2 set years ago, I'm totally cool with buying Rock Band to largely use as a Drum Hero set.

I've spent WELL OVER $1500 on bemani accessories/games/tokens/etc over the years. $700 on two cobalt fluxes? Yeah, $170 for THREE FUCKING INSTRUMENTS is cake.

Isolated complaints/praise?

Example:

Scenario 1 (individual threads):
GameSpot gives <game A> 9/10 thread <--Praise, minor bitching.
1UP gives <game A> 6/10 thread <-- Complaints and plenty of bitching.

Scenario 2 (Official thread):
Mostly bitching about bad reviews.

Anyways, It was almost a no brainer that the drums were going to steal the show for Rock Band.
