Entire (starting?) roster of Smash Bros Brawl to appear in Dec 15 issue of Coro Coro

Credit goes to ChronoBound for finding the article that I translated: http://www.mother-jp.net/times/20071121.html The article states that CoroCoro Comics have announced that all characters will be revealed alongside an issue of the CoroCoro Comics magazine (in a separate booklet) on December 15. But the article then states that CoroCoro might just be showing all of the starting characters, not the secret characters. This means that by December 15, we'll either get the full roster from CoroCoro comics, or they'll just give the starting roster, which will probably be on the Dojo prior to the magazine's announcement. Having just the starting roster is by far more likely given what CoroCoro has pulled in the past in regards to Smash, and it would make sense that we'll have the full starting lineup of characters soon since we're already at 23 now.

So on December 15th, we should know at the very least all the characters in the starting lineup for the game.

I seriously doubt it will be the entire roster. In fact, I don't think we'll know the entire roster before the game is released. One would hope that at least several of the characters will be a complete surprise.

Shrug. It's a kids magazine. The character they used "subete" doesn't leave much for interpretation.

It actually says in the last paragraph that they are unsure if its really all the characters, but that isn't Coro Coro's words, it's the words of the reporter.

Well it's a freebie guide book that covers "all characters" so from prior experience that usually just means all characters that you see when you start up the game.

It could be, but Hudson is owned by Konami, who are already represented by Solid Snake. It makes more sense that each third party character would be from a different company. So far we have Konami and Sega. Capcom seems to be the most logical next choice.

I really doubt its the full roster of SSBB.
On the other hand, Coro Coro is the mag which always reveals around 95% of info about new pokemon stuff (revealing games, new pokemons, etc; its always done by CoroCoro).
I guess we have no choice but to wait until 15th Dec

I think this topic brings up the interesting issue that we haven't touched upon yet: Unlockable Content Spoilers!

Some of us (read: everyone in the Dojo update thread) have been spoiling ourselves silly with these daily updates and all the E4All coverage. ANY tidbit of information or media that is released we seem to jump all over.

It just makes me wonder... is anyone out there going to start avoiding Brawl info when the game is released in Japan? Since there are going to be so few surprises for me regarding the starting content in the game, I think I am going to do my best to avoid any spoiling regarding all the unlockable stuff (characters/stages/etc).

For Brawl, any more info about secret characters and items will make the wait even more unbearable. Bring on the spoilers I say!

I predict that if CoroCoro is revealing the starting roster, then we'll get everyone on the Dojo, maybe sans Sonic and Snake, and perhaps with one or two newly revealed characters. (Sheik may be confirmed...)

I think that, maybe except for the third-parties, every Dojo character is default, even King Dedede, who many thought was unlockable. My reason for thinking that Dedede is default is because he features in the very first event in Event Mode, and while unlocking a character by beating an event is certainly possible (see: Ganondorf in Melee), I doubt you'd get a character for beating the very first event.
