Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (PS2) - US & Wii GGXX fans screwed in shock twist
#1
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/edigi-game/jan-4510772080026/
![]() Title: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus Release date: 27th March 2008 Genre: Fighting Platform: PS2 Price: 6090yen (2079yen for Append version) Previously thought to be just the US version of the game with all the bugfixes, Accent Core Plus is turning out to be something else entirely. - Completely brand new fully voiced Story Mode. - This time the Story Mode takes place after the events of the PS2 GGXX story mode. - The 25 characters' stories will cover the major events involving the "mystery of Gears", "that man" and conflict with the Post War Administration Bureau, etc. - The Story Mode has a full branching path Zapping system, with a total of 350 scenarios in all, once again all fully voice, representing the biggest story mode in Guilty Gear home edition history ever. - 2 old characters brought back in GGXXAC glory: Justice and Cliff, both are also available as part of the story mode. - Contains all the bug fixes, rebalances, and tune ups that the original version had issues with. - New modes like Mission Mode where your character levels up from completing missions, a full survival mode, as well as a new Gallery mode where you unlock all the awesome new illustratons. Once again, if you already have the original JP release of GGXXAC, you can buy the Append disc version for only 2079yen, which is less than 20 USD. Otherwise the full retail version is 6090yen. As far as announced, there is no Wii version and probably no plans for another US release. |

For those that don't know what the HUGE deal about this is: This is actually the first official continuation of the Guilty Gear storyline in seven years. It might also very well be the ultimate finale to the series as far as story goes.

I don't see why anyone would translate and dub 350 scenarios only to be forced by Sony to release the game at budget price because it's a re-release of the same game. - If you bought either Wii version, well, you're totally missing out on this one! How is this buttraping exercise like a regular fighting game? :) |

I don't see why anyone, a GG fan or otherwise, would or should know that AC will be re-released before long. :P In case you were wondering, its not GGXX -> GGXX#reload -> GGXX/ -> GGXXAC -> GGXXAC+. GGXXAC+ doesn't exist in arcades. If it did, this would be no big deal and everyone would expect it. |

From a japanese GGXX wiki http://wiki.livedoor.jp/ggxx_matome/d/FrontPage
「AC Plus」が海外向けに発表されました。速報程度なのですが、既に攻略や情報まとめを作る予定です。 someone on dustloop translated it as "it's been announced that AC Plus is targeted to overseas market" I'd like to see what happens in the new story...but on the other hand Guilty Gear XX's story mode already made almost no sense. ![]() |

I'd be partial to a 360 release myself.
Mainly because it's the only console I still own an arcade stick for =/ Still getting this if it gets a US release though..(which it won't so why bother) |

Guilty Gear's storyline is the RPG storyline that Arc never had the budget ot make a RPG for. ![]() |

Maybe knowing the earlier games' plots would have helped though. |

As long as there's an Append Disc I can get for cheap, I have no issue about this. I would mostly just wonder if they would bother making Justice and Kliff legit characters now, or if they would just be nice extras that still would be banned from serious play.

And now they're going to add it in a rerelease, and the US isn't going to be a part of it? That's a punch in the gut. |

I can understand this would be a bit of a concern if you played GG competitively. Sadly there's not many people around here who do. Happily that means I don't care
Ah well, maybe I'll get GGXXAC+, as I skipped over AC. When AC was released, I had only just picked up Slash for like $30AU and had only just bought a JP PS2. Semi-troll: I hope they make a sequel to FoTNS. |

It's just a way to prove you bought the original version of the upgrade so they can sell a discounted disc for previous supporters. It still doesn't make sense why they're charging about $60 for the standalone disc when every GG revision since #R has been releassed at about $50, including the first version of AC. All of the changes seem to be along the line of the changes between X and X+, as the core gameplay didn't change, but they added all of these modes that weren't in plain X. Also, Kliff and Justice have been in every console GG game with Story and/or Mission modes. It's pretty much a given for them to be there if those mdoes are there, and to not be there if those modes are not (i.e. Isuka, Accent Core). Slash and #R had them because the games had Mission modes (though not necessarily Story modes as Story wasn't in Japanese #R, just Korean, American and European.). It's a bit of a gamble for Aksys to take on releasing Plus, unless they do the Append Disc, since AC was so much more recent for us and isn't a bug fix. Aksys is a pretty small company, and bigger companies like Square and Namco haven't released upgrades for much more popular games (Final Fantasy X/X-2/XII International, Kingdom Hearts I/II Final Mix, Xenosaga Episode 1 Reloaded). How would people react to Aksys if they released an upgraded version so soon, at any price? Would they want to risk ticking people off so that they don't buy from their company again for fear of a similar situation happening again and they have to buy a second copy of the game for upgrades? Even the append disc is still a risk, though at least the game wasn't released here at a price higher than $30. |

But any way, I would think that, giving Aksys' position, it'd probably be for the best just to release the append. By the time they could get around to released the Append (I'd guess Summer 08), AC-PS2 would certainly be dirt cheap. They could probably afford to release both the upgrade and the original in a dual pack for under 40 bucks, if they wanted to. |

First Famitsu screen shots of the game from the website. Seeing Justice makes me very, very happy. |
