Nintendo WFC Online Activity (W/E December 30th) [BIGGEST WEEK YET!] #1

There's a few things you need to know this week:

* We have a new 1st! Pokémon is off the top spot! Also, 3 new games in the Top 10. This is also the first week ever with no games only out in Japan, IIRC.

* This is, I think, the biggest week EVER for the service.

* The service or the program went down late saturday, so sunday has been generated as an average of the other 6 days and then added to the total. It would probably have been bigger if up, but I thought this was the most even way to handle it, if I want to compare weeks later. Zodiak told me the service had downtime last year around this time as well (Dec 21 - Jan 2), so that's probably it again. This uncertainty also means, that there won't be a Top 100 this week.

The complete chart for week 52 of 2007 can be seen underneath. Enjoy :).

Please note

- The number of connections listed in here is not unique connections, just the total number of connections for the service during the past week.

- These data are straight off of Nintendo's Wi-Fi site, through the freeware program WFCStatus.

- A Top 100 was released by me four weeks ago. To compare, see it here. [b]Usually I'd submit a new Top 100 list this week, but the service isn't very stabile right now, so I don't know how correct that would be. As it takes some time gathering all the data for the Top 100 most active games, I don't want to do it while the service is unstable.

---------------------This weeks Top 10---------------------

Right now I won't separate the list in DS / Wii, but I will do this, as more games get released for Wii.
New games on the Top 10 is written in bold. Games in italic haven't been released in America (yet).

Wow! I never thought I'd see the day when Pokemon D/P gets dethroned!

Anyone who says Wii owners don't play 3rd party games or don't like online games can shut up now!

Amazing numbers this week! and nearer to cracking the 200,000 barrier for all of the top 10! lol.

Interesting to see metroid prime hunters and pokemon have not moved at all, solid player base there it's good to see.

Wow, people are still playing Metroid Prime Hunters? I thought everyone had realized that game was glitched to hell and back and full of cheaters and completely broken in some ways. Like how one guy has a 67567576% Win Rate.

mario kart wii is already complete enough to play online? I'm surprised. I guess they'll just sit on it for a while since brawl is coming so soon.

Im definitely picking it up once it hits Aus. The great thing is the game won't be hindered by the region locked wi-fi connection..

While that is true why would anyone play outside his own region? And a FPS no less? You're looking at a ping of 100+ ms.

No, those games aren't country locked either. Maybe for Australia, don't know, but I can play with people from around Europe with no problem. Besides, I don't know about all the Wii games, but there're lots of DS Wi-Fi games that can be played with people around the globe.

BTW, I'm asuming all EA games let you play with people globally, since MoHH2 lets you do that and it uses EA Nation. like any other EA online game on the Wii.

Australia must be considered its own region :( You can definitely only play people from Australia in GH3 and Mario Strikers.

BTW, howcome I NEVER see anyone who was on the original Mario Strikers Charged US Friend Code Exchange online? Nearly 40 friends, and only 1 other person has played at least 1 online game in the last week?

What happened?

I'll be doing that, or dividing into Top 10 DS-games and Top 10 Wii-games very soon. There's about 150 games on the service right now, think it's about time :)

Wooo - glad to see MOHH2 in the top 10 finally.

I guess good word of mouth really helped the game after all.

I wonder if the same thing can happen to Zak + Wiki in the end (basically, if it has legs due to good word of mouth). :/

Thanks again for compiling the list, Bo130.

Seeing GH III beat Pokemon seems almost unreal heh. I thought the only game that could do that (but consistently) would be Brawl. Awesome though, and a incredible boost. Especially compared to all the other games' boost.

MoH is doing great too. And is this the first week the #10 game had more than 100k connections? And even #12 is doing far above that.

It will be very interesting to see in just a few weeks how big Advance Wars's [online] userbase really is. Can't wait for that game.

No, we're still trying to figure it out. Any help would be highly appreciated. Hopefully it'll be back soon, at least before Brawl releases later this month.

Also, does anyone know how the previous Advance Wars-installments did? I kinda think we're going to see a flop of Days of Ruin online... Or, maybe not a flop, but not too much above Planet Puzzle League.

Too bad. Can't help sorry, no knowledge of this kind whatsoever.

Don't have any numbers for AW, but I think it's safe to assume that this will do rather poorly in Japan (seeing that Dual Strike sold under 50k). I think it'll do OK in NA, not sure about Europe, it'll depend on marketing since the series hasn't been huge here or anyhing.

At this moment all my attention is going towards MoH:H2..Really want that game to succeed and it looks like it is!

Looks like GH3 won't hit the million mark again any time soon.
