I live in Sweden myself and just bought The Fifth Element and Memento for 15 USD each (+ 7 USD for international shipping). Both films are region free.
Thanks for the info 2real4tv
Maybe a noob question but I'm getting tired of the black bars.
Memento doesn't seem to be region free, at least on the Amazon page, which sucks as I would've bought it in a second.Originally Posted by kaleii

I don't currently have any money on my US check card. Shit shit shit I knew I should have applied for a japanese credit card by now.
Oh well maybe if the sale is on for a while I can transfer some money or something.

This Blu-ray game must be amazing. We keep getting posts about it in the gaming forum.

There's a sizeable chunk of the blu-ray movies that are region free. Presumably this is because the userbase is still too small and it's more cost effective to print one disc for all territories. There are a couple of websites out there that list which blu-ray movie plays on which region player. I imported the US version of Planet Earth and Apocalypto and they're region free (though haven't checked yet as they've just been shipped.Originally Posted by The Innocent X

edit: just answered above^^^^
Most movies are filmed using a wider aspect ratio (wider image) and when you put a wider image on a 4:3 or 16:9 TV the picture get squeezed and black bars are added to preserve the original ratio. Why would you want to ruin a movie by getting it panned, scanned and cropped to fill the entire screen?Originally Posted by InterMoniker

(EDIT) Here's a quick guide. Also read the next page.
Why is this in the gaming section?
If so then Die Hard trilogy here I come!

I'm looking now for some decent movies that aren't.
That was my first thought. I wish I stocked up on the BOGO sales because I have a feeling we won't be seeing a gg sale like that anymore.Originally Posted by gkrykewy
50% off MSRP - not nearly as good as their usual BOGO sales. :(

Cars
Ratatouille
2001
Close Encounters
Spider-Man High Def Trilogy
I'm thinkin abut getting Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind and 2001: A Space Odyssey. I know they're classics and was interested in seeing them. However, I'm not sure whether I would enjoy them, as I don't seem to enjoy other old classic films like Monty Python etc
Give it a while for the euphoria to wear off.Originally Posted by 3rdman

Not really some of those VHS movies are awesome!Originally Posted by Metalmurphy

Does anyone know if this is a sale or just a general markdown? On that page I couldn't find anything to suggest that it was a sale.

I don't read OT, so it's nice when people post these kinds of deals. Thanks OP!Originally Posted by NekoFever
