RPG Speculation (From Nintendo Power)
#1
I caught this in another thread (the Sonic RPG one), but since it got lost there, I figured I'd move it to it's own thread. Apparently, the information was posted in Nintendo Power, so it's a game coming out on either the DS or Wii. I wonder if this is part of the same game that was hinted by the IGN guys some weeks ago.

I doubt it would be Final Fantasy V or IV for the DS. We already know about those games, and from my impression of the comment, it's a game we don't know about yet, or something that was hinted about at some point. I also think that it would be something that has some history to it, which would generate some hype. No idea what that could be though, but Golden Sun is also a good candidate. Too many possibilities. Maybe they have the scoop on Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers. Could be anything.

Are Nintendo Power normally prone to hyperbole? If so, I could easily see this as being about the FF remakes for the DS (unless these were already covered). Was "Megaton" originally from Nintendo Power? I think that if it isn't about the DS remakes, it'd have to be the announcement of a new IP or something new from Monolith. Then again, there's an infinitecimally small chance that it's something huge on the scale of (say) an announcement of a Final Fantasy VII remake or a Final Fantasy XIII spinoff. If we're talking impossible dreams though, I'd ask Santa for a Chrono Trigger remake or a cell-shaded, Amano art inspired Final Fantasy VI remake. |

They said cover story right? How long does it take before we know what the cover of a Nintendo Power is?

Its obviously not from Square-Enix. They don't reveal megatons in NP. If you wanted an S-E megaton, it would've been at a Japanese event like Jump Festa or a Japanese publication like Famitsu.
I'm going to say this is from Nintendo themselves. Golden Sun 3 would be amazing but its probably something else, like Fragile. |

On the "losing the memory" thing... didn't Terra from Final Fantasy VI have amnesia through most of the first half? ;)
Protip: don't read too much into the memory thing. It's so vague that it could be applied to any game, so even if it is a clue, it won't become clear until after the announcement is made. I'm thinking that this will be about something that will be announced publicly prior to the release of the next issue. Basically, Nintendo Power won't be the ones making the announcement. |
