What's this? Kingdom Under Fire: Dominion = MMOARTS? #1

Godhandiscen was wondering about this piece of artwork over at the Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom thread, and this is what I found. Not sure if this is entirely official, but it seems to be... Will update OP if there's a press release soon.

● New storyline, new characters and NPC's; shocking ending.
● Three camps : Light camp, Dark camp and new party(new species maybe?).
● Tens of thousands units fighting at field, as well as at siege warfare.
● Trying to come up with ultimate RTS that suits next gen consoles, not only by providing larger scale, but by experience of real war feeling.
● The title is due by 2009, and there will be a PC version as well.

The armour on that guy is just ridiculous

Sounds like a cool idea though, hope they pull it off.

Looks like he belongs in a Blizzard game.

They have godly artists at that studio but the rest is kinda average.

Seriously, I wish the KuF art team was working on alot of other Microsoft games.

it's about time. I have heard about this from several sources and now they finally come good on their end on the project.

So it's real, then?

Any word on this being real? I guess it would be nice for all the RTS fans out there looking for something new and exciting. Heck, I might give this a try too because I like the premise of it. I've played enough MMO's out there, and in the end they are all th same.

This might become different, like Chris Taylor's Demigods, which could be compared to this in a way.

I know for a fact that they're working on a true sequel to the Kingdom Under Fire series, this is the first I've heard of any sort of an MMO. Consider me interested if true.

Somewhat off-topic, but Microsoft should strike more deals with studios outside of Japan. Chinese and Korean studios are relatively untapped and it would be a worthwhile market for Microsoft to strive for.

Indeed. They pretty much confirmed this a few weeks ago.

I'm curious as to how this'll look in motion though (being a MMO and all), as I've always been a fan of their Xbox games. But I also wonder why they chose to "evolve" the franchise into a MMOARTS if this is supposed to be the true sequel.

Tens of thousands eh. Quite the optimism for the server infrastructure of their first massively online game.

I doubt they reach that number :P Maybe the latest Kingdom Under Fire was more of a learning experience then an actual spin off?

Edit: I never knew Kingdom Under Fire was originally an actual RTS game
