Hmm, I'm really trying to enjoy this...but it just doesn't feel right. I loved Killer 7, but this is just such a mess technically. :( I went in expecting something unpolished, but damn, I know their budget was low but there were TONS of PS2 titles that were of this level (or better) that could easily hold 60 fps (at the very least). There are so many uninteresting bits in there too. I'm going to keep at it hoping for improvement, though.
It's like 50% awesome and 50% awful. |

Okay. I will push forward then.
I got extremely turned off after losing those one-hit-fail free fights while trying to earn money for the 9th ranked assassination, which requires you to drive ALL THE WAY BACK to the fucking store to re-activate it. BTW, it feels great to actually be using my Wii again. I hadn't even checked out all the new Wii ware that had come out, like the Mii contests and stuff. I laughed pretty hard at some of those. Turning on my Wii actually makes me want to play Mario Galaxy (I got 3 stars :P) and finish Twilight Princess. We'll see if COD4 and EDF and DMC4 won't put a stop to this. |

you can powerup 'finishing strikes' by the doing the same motion you did before to activate it.
for example when you finish a combo and the left arrow appears, do it again but before Travis delivers the blow and it'll become stronger, you get some flashy slow-mo too. I noticed that yesterday. |

I think the bloody US version is a major improvement and really pushes the exploitation b-movie feel. But OTOH, I'm very glad I played the JPN version because I play Suda games for the visual/audio experience and fun-factor. Getting stuck at a boss and spending 1-2 hours of retrying on them would seriously piss me off and make me enjoy the game much less. Same with not getting the real ending in 1 playthrough and having to replay the entire game over again on an even HARDER difficulty just to finally see the ending. It sounds like with the US version you have to spend 20+ hours total just to experience the same game that you can run right through and experience in 10 hours+ in the JPN one. I think JPN developer's perception of every US gamer being this hardcore expert-mode only (ie, on JPN version you can survive 2 or 3 of those cutscenes final attacks from bosses), replay games over and over, fellow is really stupid. From my experience US gamers on average are like JPN gamers on average. There are the hardcore group and the mainstream group; the group with jobs who want shorter games and the group in school who want longer games. I think gameplay-wise titles should be identical across all regions. Since the Europe version is getting the bloodless JPN one, I wonder if the gameplay changes will be more like the US one or JPN one. |

FWIW, I just beat the game with the Tsubaki Mk-III and got the real ending just fine. I wonder if they changed the requirements to having both of its upgrades (including the infinite battery) as well. Though, as I remember it, I also got all of the trading cards on my file, so who knows.
Coming as someone who was a gigantic fan of Killer7, this game did not disappoint in the slightest. Yeah, there's games that have textures with more detail than all of Santa Destroy, but how many of those games have enemies that have paper bags on their heads, with drawn-in cat faces? I thought so. |

My first playthrough was on sweet and I got the real ending. I wasn't at max strength (I believe I could have done more training) but I did have the ryu beam katana , and I did collect all the balls.
To those that didn't get the "real ending," when you beat the game: did an option menu with your choice of A) return to Santa Destroy B) view ending and C) view "real" ending not show up? Last edited by morningbus : 01-27-2008 at 12:46 AM. |

When I got the real ending, I had bought all weapons and all parts except for one part. I did not have all the Lovikov balls or all the videos. I did not have all the stuff you can wear. I did have all the training from the gym.

To those of you that got the real ending, did you have all the cards? I missed a couple, not really sure how, and I will be pissed if you need them all for the real ending since you can't go back. I have all the Lovikov balls, have done all the training, and gotten all the parts available at this point.

I started playing this today. Amazing game. The best game I've played on the Wii.
Thank you, Suda 51. I wish more games were like this. A ton of technical problems (because it's on the wrong system) but worth every frame stutter and pop-in tree. Hilarious, ultraviolent, and actually fun to play. |
