Nice book, but you won't be getting Mega man 9 for a long, long time, if ever.
Inafune, the guy in charge of the series, just doesn't see any point in it. The demand just isn't there, apparently.(He's going by the sales of the PSP remakes) |

That piece of art was made for the Rockman Complete Works series, which were individual rereleases of all six original Mega Man games for the PS1.
The text is...intriguing, though.

However, the lousy sales of both Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X killed that idea. |

This is probably a proper Rockman 9 hint. Wii/PS2/PSP...maybe DS? After the Zero/ZX/Battlenet milking all these years, the identity of classic 'Megaman' is almost forgotten. It seems time for Capcom to return to the basics.
Though a 360 MM Legend 3 would be so fucking awesome. PS. Megaman Legends 1/2 >>>>>>>>Lost Planet. |

Seriously, I would forget about Mega Man 9 if they ever did that. |

Inafune is interesting, he was the one that greenlit Street Fighter IV, but has problems getting Megaman Legends approved?
I mean, youd think he would have the authority to be like "Bitches, we makin; this shit NOW" |

Man a Megaman Powered Up 2 would be so amazing....but i'd like Megaman 9 for consoles more than anything. A Megaman 9 done in the powered up style, except for consoles would be a seller im sure.
I mean if they can bring back Bionic Commando and Street Fighter, they can bring back Classic Mega! Also for the record, I really like Megaman ZX series. |

I actually wasn't that fond of Maverick Hunter X. I thought the graphics suffered when Capcom made everything polygonal; but then, I love the pixel art of the classic Mega Man games. There wasn't really that much in the way of new content; a few slightly altered stages and some anime scenes were the extent of it. The ability to play as Vile was cool, and the remixed music was nice, but overall I thought Maverick Hunter X didn't do enough to justify its status as a remake.
Now, Powered Up on the other hand is what I consider to be the gold standard of remakes. Okay, so the art style won't appeal to everyone. But Powered Up offered the Construction Mode (which is a replay value gold mine), the Challenge Mode, two entirely new Robot Masters and corresponding levels (Time Man and Oil Man), the ability to play as Roll, Proto Man, and every Robot Master, and a new intro stage complete with boss. Powered Up was amazing when it came to new content. |

Who cares about MM Powered Retread 2; gimme MM9 or MM&B2 now!
PS: Kill off the ZX series while you're at it and release a proper Zero 5 where the ZX games were all a dream and none of that basphemy ever happened. |

Dude, MM's entire origins and concept (robot with a heart made for housework but modified with weapons to fight for justice, his father is an older tubby scientist, and a robot sister made from the same design) is a blatant rip-off of Astroboy.
This is probably one of the reasons why the X series and on exists. |

Considering how these days, when we finally get a sequel we've long yearned for, it usually ends of being a massive disappointment (NiGHTS 2 instantly comes to mind), I think its time to give up on this particular ghost.
Then, that attitude is highly defendant upon how one feels about Mega Man 4-6. I'm fairly certain the illustration is referring to the fact that we will be getting Mega Man games, whatever the flavor it might be, for years to come. |

So, if anything, it would probably be a thing that Horinouchi would have to play his cards right and put it out there for the top brass of Capcom. Not so much Inafune. |
