This looks fake to me. The first two screen shots look possible, but the one on the right definitely looks fake. I would be disappointed if these are real. The background in the middle picture looks promising, but the portrait in the middle looks terrible.

I do enjoy a good Metroidvania (though I would quite gleefully beat the crap out of IGA if I ever met him in the street), but classic Castevania with the same level of awesome as Contra IV would be heaven.

I think the Kojima assumption (at least the reason why I assumed it was at first) was the fact that this art uses very soft lines, more muted and matching color, has more detail in the cloth and hair. "Generic anime" would use much more solid color, thicker lines, and would look like a neon rainbow.

Well, if this really is the new Castlevania game, the main character has a lot more muted colors.

So whether it is "generic anime" crap, at least it is more mature looking than the previous games.

If by update you mean significantly change, I agree. He has, however, refined the formula. I'd rather play Aria and Dawn of Sorrow than Symphony of the Night.

That said, though, I'd prefer a new classicvania a la Rondo of Blood or Dracula's Curse.

I noticed the heart counter on the HUD. If hearts are to come back alongside MP, I hope there won't be a Harmony of Dissonance-type case of imbalance between the two.

What I'm looking at would fit the description of generic. Not sure what neon rainbow is supposed to look like but I hope it stays the hell away from Castlevania! I hope this one starts in a tavern with Simon getting drunk off his ass only to be informed that Dracula has risen from the grave. Simon quickly informs the three half-naked women from the neighboring harem that the orgy will have to wait until after the adventure. He throws down his goblet, straps on his pig intestine-lined boots and thus begins the ultimate journey- man.

I have to disagree. His recycling refining of the system is only as dramatic as the Dragon Quest series; there are enough changes to see a small difference but in the end, it's still the same fundamental thing.
