New FFXIII plot details emerged from the scans:

Built by a great entity, it is a society floating in the sky, enclosed in a "shell" --- Cocoon.

It flourishes, protected by the great machines and living creatures invented by the Crystal.

The inhabitants of Cocoon, in a long period of tranquility, fear infection from the outside.

Outside the shell, an underworld --- Pulse's entity awakens. Fearing this faceless invader, people begin to suspect one another, and hatred takes root.

Cocoon's government, wishing for stability, takes emergency measures. They arrest large numbers of citizens who were suspected of being "infected from the outside", and announced that they would be compelled to migrate to the underworld "Pulse". In reality, it meant banishment, but the fate which awaited them was even more cruel than that...

The crystal, a symbol of harmony, chose a person to whom to entrust destiny and lead the world.

She was chosen.

As the enemy of mankind, which ruins the world.

I think it will be faster this time....previous translation was 6-8 months max though...too long, but certainly not 8-12

As much as I would like to see Versus become a new SE franchise, I think SE realizes how the Final Fantasy name is really going to help the sales of this title.

They're gonna try the WW thing with Last Remnant...hopefully that sets a nice precedent. More imperative for that MMO to get WW release anyway.

I dunno. From one side I can see that it's clearly CGi, from the other I've seen current PS3 software that also looks gorgous, and heard devs saying that they're still not quite there yet, and my FF, Square, fandom comes into play making me think that the actual game will not look that far off what we have in those scans.

If they can make FFXIII game look as good as the FFVII tech demo (they did make FFX look better than FFVIII tech-demo), then I will be praising their name forever and ever.

yeah but it's not new FF it's still spinoff of FFXIII , i guess maybe Final Fantasy XIII plus sutitles or numbers like FFXIII-2 or FFXIII: the Crisis Within , that maybe more more likely and better .

Now THAT is an interesting premise. I expected the plot to come off as redundant and cliche'd like the past iterations of FF, hell 75% of cRPGs are pretty much based on the typical "group of individuals save the planet from destruction etc". This is like the polar opposite, quite refreshing to see indeed.

I concur. Infact, I'm pretty impressed with all the designs I've seen so far, perhaps Toriyama may have what it takes to create an engaging and inspiring FF, it has almost been 8 years for me.

I must say.....I'm somewhat hyped.

Yeah, I think it's the cocoon, though it would be friggin brilliant to have her turn on everyone in favour of some new direction!.

Yeah definitely. It all looks gorgeous which is why I'm "somewhat" hyped. When new in-game footage comes around and IF it's impressive along with the battle system and how fluid it is with the exploration aspect etc, THAT's when I'll be absolutely hyped. Oh that and depending on the duration of the overall game (30-40hrs including side-quests)
