January 22, 2008 - Hello everyone! Welcome to our brand new topical podcast series (and the return of a classic company brand), IGN GameSages. The successor to our old, IGN is AFK podcast, GameSages is a weekly Internet show dedicated to discussing the latest trends, influences and software, GameSages reaches into the IGN family, and outside of it, to bring the industry's most experienced minds together for a good old fashioned gab-fest.

For our inaugural episode, GameSages host and IGN Games Editorial Manager, Jeremy Dunham sits down with an all-star cast of gaming editorial personalities. Former Gamespot Editorial Director, Jeff Gerstmann, EGM Editor-in-Chief Dan Hsu, OXM Editor-in-Chief Francesca Reyes and GameSpy Console Editor-in-Chief, Will Tuttle spends an hour or so chewing the fat about the year that was 2007 and what to expect in 2008. As an added bonus, they even answered a few listener-submitted questions to finish off the occasion.

These people have no individuality when it comes to their taste in games.

"What are you looking forward to in 2008?"
"Gears."
"GTA 4."
"Splinter Cell."

Then again having no individuality in that regard may be a strength for critics since they're reviewing game for the faceless masses. Then again I turned it off halfway through because I have no interest in listening to people like that.

Really makes me wish the forum for this was the 1UP Show. Minus any IGN presence, Fran, Tuttle, and add John Davidson, Keighley, and N'Gai, and this would really be the show to end all shows.

It's really time to realize these people just don't give a shit about PC games. Just accept it, embrace the Brodeo, and move on.

I thought the show was alright, I would have liked a cast with broader tastes though (ironic considering the premise). It just seemed like everyone is into the exact same stuff, makes things kinda boring.

Pretty much. If it's not coming from the mouth of a trusted bunch of PC only gamers, it's not worth a lick to me. Same when it comes to sports, fighting games and RPGs.

Mainstream stuff? I'll give them a little listen. Problem there is that I've probably already decided what I think anyways.

Sure was a really nice end of the year 360 retrospective, two editors, one who used to be on a 360 only publication, one who is in charge of a 360 only publication and of course Dan ' I love Halo 3 screw everything else ' Hsu.

Jeremy Dunham used to be at a Playstation-only publication and headed the IGN Playstation channel for many years. Hsu listed Bioshock as his game of the year and Mario Galaxy as #2.

Please this podcast couldn't have contained much more of the 360 fanfare that it was, wow one guy said rachet and clank and Hsu picked a game that wasn't on the 360, that just tipped the scales to a place of balance ...... how could I be so wrong.
