Yeah I saw this on Play-Asia yesterday and almost made a thread:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-2iys.html I was thinking about getting it since I have a Japanese 360. |

I thought it was confirmed the asian version had english voices in the movies but japanese text within the game? Or is that the japanese version? So does the "asian" version have all english text AND english voices for both cutscenes and withing the game (menus, battles etc)

It's regionfree so it'll work on my US 360 correct?
Edit: WTF?! Why it is called region free when it's not region free?! more like semi region free.:( |

Wow, between the strong Euro and generally high game prices around here it's less than half the price of new 360 games bought locally. Crazy.

I went to look for this yesterday. Saw a few copies in the local department store. The box is big looks hawt.
But - it said 'Region Japan' and the languages on the back said 'Chinese/Japanese' - no mention of English. They wouldn't let me open the box and try it out on the display 360, so I didn't buy a copy.. On reflection, I think that would be the Asian version with Chinese/English because there has only been two releases so far. First the Japan release and now the 2nd one with Chinese/English/Japanese text. I'll head to the city later today and ask one of the specialist game stores there. Can't wait to play this game! It's one of the reasons why I bought a 360. |

I'm playing the Asian version, and as shown in the picture above, it is all in English text with 3 voice options. Initially, I was worried about the Chinese/Japanese print on the back of the huge box (4 disc set), but I believe it is a misprint. There are no Mandarin characters in the game, unless you are willing to broaden your grid of definitions to include Kanji as "Chinese". Anyway, the front of the Asian version's box also puts "中英合版“ (English + Mandarin),which only holds true for the manual, not the game.
I'm disappointed after giving this a few hours of play. The graphics look like PS 2.5, a far cry from Irrational's excellent use of U3 engine for Bioshock! That's secondary to the fact Kiyoshi Shigematsu's Thousand Year Story is available only in text. I've just unlocked 3 stories, and they are indeed running in alignment with his reputation as a Naoki prize winner, but why aren't these scenes acted out as a CG or given interactive control to the player? The Aim Ring system is also pretty boring (no combos, juggles or special attacks), I'd take Shadowhearts' Judgement Ring anyday. Another minor irritance comes in the form of the small font size, they are hurting all 4 of my eyes. Hopefully by disc 2 I'd have changed my tune. I want to love LO, yet I'm finding myself working hard to source for reasons to like it. |

Strangely I've grown to like it; in fact I like it much better than Blue Dragon.
The Thousand Year Dreams are a treat to read, makes for a nice reward for trudging through the game. Boss battles are ROCK HARD. 3 hours in and on my 2nd boss battle and I just can't clear, even after 4 tries. Pretty cool though, I like the challenge. Graphics are unappealing at times, but they do look pretty good every now and then. Monsters are nicely designed and animate very well. Framerate can go wonky at times, but at least the slowdown doesn't drag out battles like BD. One thing I don't get is if I'm playing an immortal, why do I still get to see a Game Over screen??? |
