EA: No Burnout Paradise online for Xbox 360 Core, Arcade users #1

I understand that you are currently having issues with the requirements for Burnout Paradise. I apologize for your situation, and the inconvenience that this causes you.

The hard drive is needed to store temporary data when playing online as the data transferred from one console to another requires storage space greater than what the memory card can contain.

this is from EA support. I think it starts. I think some games wont be playable at all on those system in the future.

Did they put that on the box? Because as much as I hate lawsuits, someone needs to screw them to the wall if they didn't.

On one hand it's good that Criterion didn't hold back because of the core.

Although I wonder who has a core and gold too. Still a dumb situation.

i dont know about gold but core and aracde were sold like crazy in the states. I mean microsoft should be in trouble as well, they never told the buyers, that they buy a limited system.
EA could lawsuit Microsoft

Well lastgen consoles need less data to be transfared, look at ps2 online games with only 8MB memorycard.

This was bound to happen sooner or later, but for it come from EA of all people is huge.

Not a MEGATON, but it's going to cause some friction all the same IMHO.

Or, right, couldn't they just buy a hard drive?

Or is that not the point of this thread?

i am not a lawyer but somehow they could give the guilt back to Microsoft because as the seller of the core system they must say "Some games will not work on this system " and since they lied about it and sold a weak system they could get lawsuit.

If MS are allowing this then this is good for those with HDs, any removing of restrictions on devs is good in my book.

Crappy for Core owners through buT i cant imagine there are too many on-line gamers with no Harddrives.

They need more than about 500 MB of data (considering the 512 MB memory card) for temporary data that is supposed to be uploaded from a console to other consoles online ?

I smell bullshit... or at least the explanation given by the EA rep is way too simplified...

Arcade users won't even be able to play some games in the future. Only a matter of time before this happened.

You expect players to have a completely empty Memory Card just for Burnout to use for memory?

This isn't anything new people. People that don't have a hard drive shouldn't be able to play these games online anyway. The game runs perfectly well in single player mode on a core system. Anyone that wants to play online should be purchasing a HD anyway.

On to the subject at hand: this sucks, plain and simple. Now real reasons start to surface to call the Core the 'tard pack.

If this happens more often it potentially could ruin MS strategy.

you see any way to solve this problem? I mean this time it is only online but soon some games will need the HDD for the high restextures and stuff, what should they do then? PS3 Version, X360 HDD version and low def X360 non HDD version?

I don't think this would be that big a deal if MS charged a reasonable price for a HDD. $100 for 20GB is ridiculous, especially since its over 2 years since launch.

I'd give them the option of doing just that instead of forcing them to buy an HDD for the Xbox 360.

Especially when you can get 250 GB 2.5'' SATA drives for 159 Euros and they sell the 120 GB HDD for 179 Euros (add 20 Euros for the custom encasing a normal SATA drive would need to work on the Xbo 360 [] and you still are paying a LOT more than you should per GB of storage).

As others are suggesting, the only real direction to take is, probably, to drastically reduce the price on the basic 20GB unit.
