Left4Dead 360 Exclusive! As a Sony and Valve Fanbitch.... #1

I didn't know I'd say this, but please, let EA UK do the port to PS3 again!

Source: http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/02...lusive-to-360/

Quote:
The new game from the newly-acquired-by-Valve studio Turtle Rock Studios, Left 4 Dead has had a fair bit of press from the PC side of the gaming press, but we've heard relatively little in relation to a console version. Well that's over, as OXM recently revealed that the game will not only be appearing on PCs, but that the 360 version will be the only one appearing on any console. The folks from OXM got to play two scenario's (read: levels) on PC and one level on a 360 dev kit. As a minor point (but a good sign) the names of those levels recall the game's horror roots: "The Hospital" and "Cornfield."

The second part to this news is the identity of the developer who will be handling the 360 port (Valve and Turtle Rock won't be working with it hands-on). That dev is the creator of Halo 2 DLC, Certain Affinity. The 16 man team with former Halo team members will be "handle(ing) 360-specific elements like matchmaking, Live support, console customization, and 360 gameplay tweaks."

Why a new thread? Or are you unable to properly post news (if it's news?)

edit: ah you edited.

I don't boot into my Windows install much now and I'm trying to avoid that. Even if it means not having a mouse.

Also I don't know if the PC version will die off 3 months down the road like mods do. At least with a console version I'm guaranteed with some non-hacking playerbase.

Games that go on PC are still considered 360 only by Microsoft.

I'll be playing the 360 version. Looking forward to it.

Final confirmation huh? Oh well I will get the PC version then.

Edit: I have a 360 but I decided to no longer pay for XBL and this game without the coop expereince wouldn't be the same.

Despite having a monster PC, I'll get this on 360. I spend half my life in front of a PC because of work so it's nice to get away from the keyboard from time to time.

The A.I. will react to your strategies even on a user-generated map...so MS really need to have a top 10 most downloaded filter or something like that to keep the game going.

Certain Affinity (doing the port) is founded by Max Hoberman, he was the multiplayer lead for Halo 2 and 3. Responsible for the entire online system (interface, gameplay, UI, party etc). I hope he can put some of that experience to good use.

I have always planned to get this on PC, I wasnt even aware it was going to be on consoles, so this is a plus to 360 gamers.

The 360 version of the Orange Box (outside of some lag issues with TF2) was totally fine. I'll probably be getting it on PC now that I have a good rig, but saying that is the ONLY place to play it is just stupid.

We'll have to see if they do anything regarding the UTIII content first, then that will probably be the same way they do the L4D content.

Not really, because this will most likely be a dx9 steam powered game and that clashes frontally with their live, games for windows and vista strategies.

Buying it on PC for sure, but may give the 360 version a whirl.
I normally don't care how it is going with the publishers or anything...as long as it is not Sony or Nintendo publishing a "PC" game. I could care less. And by "PC" I mean a now Wii/PS3 exclusive with the cancellation of the original PC making of it. Ie Heavy Rain.

I love all the people who just say "it's not exclusive, its on the pc". Some of us (and by some I mean a lot of us at least if you look at PC game sales) would rather play it on our console sitting on the couch with a controller.

Makes sense, Valve wants nothing to do with the PS3 architecture.

Orange Box on 360 was fantastic though, I don't see why this will be any different.
