Wowowow
This is much cooler than I expected. So you can sync your Wiimote with your TV. When you select a program to watch on the guide, it goes straight to it on your TV, and then you can use your Wiimote as a remote to change channels and volume. If you want to go back to the guide, just press the home button and voila. Also, it's communal. So, if you want to, you can share your TV bookmarks through Wiiconnect24. It's like if you had xbox live on your Tivo. |

Yeah, it turns out the Wiimote has infra-red, and can act as a basic TV remote.
I'm pretty sure that this feature is included in Wii Fit, so that you can switch the channel to TV during a workout, and switch back to check your progress. (It was mentioned on the IGN Wiik in review Podcast). |

Like how some TVs automatically switch to the relevant video input if you turn on a connected device. Which theoretically means it could turn your TV on and off when shows you have bookmarked come on, so long as it's in standby. |

Holy fuck, this is awesome! I can't believe how much fun I'm having just changing channels.
Edit: It's just such a shame that Japanese TV is such a piece of shit. This is the first time I've watched anything since October. Last edited by marvelharvey : 03-04-2008 at 09:48 AM. |

This could work with Freeview in the UK, I reckon. The channel information would be freely available to them via the various MUXs. They'd have to work on remote codes for the various freeview boxes and freeview enabled TVs, but it could be done. I suppose Sky and Cable wouldn't be that much harder, assuming they could get the channel info from Sky/Virgin.
edit: I think some cable boxes use a different IR frequency so that might be difficult. edit2: Would suck to be a wireless sensor bar owner :) |
