I've been meaning to pick this up for my Neo for ages. Although to be fair, there's quite a few people on SRK who support this game.

Excellent thread, let me add one more...

WAY OF THE WARRIOR

Weird game, but tons of hidden shit much like Bloodstorm!

Fun Fact: This is one of Naughty Dog's earlier titles, before Crash Bandicoot.

I loved Weapon Lord. I was really good at it too for some reason.

I like Vs. on PS1. It has characters designed by the people that did Slap Happy Rhythm Busters.

Here's a hidden gem for GAF:

I only got to play this for about an hour about 10 years ago, but it is the reason I will be buying a Neo Geo 64 sometime soon. You moved the character forward and backwards with two buttons and executed moves using the joystick. I was also a big fan of the balance meter.

I really miss Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct Gold (2). I played the absolute crap out of them, and knew just about every character inside and out. It always upsets me to see people saying that the game is garbage these days (it's not).

Nice to see TMNT Tourny Fighters, I honestly thought I was the only one who thought that game was awesome. It's still in my collection, and the music was pretty bad ass too.

I LOLed at Wargods... I guess the point of the thread is to bring up fighters you liked that people hated, I'd say Wargods is a good one to bring up. I actually bought that game dirt cheap many moons ago just to have fun making fun of it. Speaking of N64 fighters, I remember kind of liking BioFreaks and Mace: The Dark Age. I'm sure they're awful, but I recall having a fun time with them. Dark Rift on the other hand... ung.

Yeah I really want to try this game out... I saw it in the arcades around 10 years ago but alas didn't even give it a try. SNKP should make this a PSN title...

I'll add Toshinden to the mix. The massive amount of fighters in the third one rocked.

Unbalanced, wacky and horrible soundtrack, but 4-player Guilty Gear is just too great.

Like Street Fighter, Smash looks simple on the surface. So, yeah.

Melee was crazy intricate. Whether or not that was intentional doesn't matter. The competitive community melts faces. "Simple" doesn't cut it.

Anyway, I always enjoyed Justice League Task Force when I was a stupid kid. It's probably pretty bad and I've never seen anyone talking about it, but whatever.. It had Batman and Superman.

Didn't Toshiden 3 have like tons of Michael Jackson characters, and guys in hockey masks with chainsaws?

Also, was anyone aware there was a Toshiden 4 made? I had no clue.

The first Toshinden was so refreshing. It was the only game I got with my PSX for almost a year, and I was totally fine with that. Although I tried playing it recently and failed miserably. It doesn't hold up well today. I still like the character designs, all-in-all a good effort from Takara, a company that previously was just porting SNK fighters to SNES.

hey i don't think that. i love street fighter! i still play snk vs capcom, third strike and super street fighter! i'm saying what everybody i know tells me about smash bros (they always use that sf2 comparison). i tell them it's very simple.. don't get knocked off of the side of the screen! but i watch them try to play and when someone hits them near off the side they don't try to jump back. so i say "no no.. if someone hits you off the side of the level you have to jump back. just use the jump button". the next time i watch and it happens again. never fails.

so then we go back to playing 800 matches of street fighter 2.. ryu vs ken (the only characters any of them will pick)

There was a really bad fighter for the Genesis where the chatacters were all robots. At the time, I think it might have been the only street-fighter-like game available, so I thought it was pretty awesome... I wish I could remember what it was called. Any help?

It could have been Rise of the Robots, but somehow it doesn't seem right ...

It was an arcade game.

Did anyone know that the developer of Time Killers and Bloodstorm were the ones that brought us Street Fighter The Movie: The Game?

Cyborg Justice? (That might not be what you're referring to...it was more a beat-'em-up than a fighter, though I think it had a standard fighting mode in it too.) I loved that game, the customization was fun.

EDIT: I'm way off, yeah, riskVSreward looks to have remembered it. I hated that game, haha.

I really enjoyed Marvel Nemesis, even though it was almost universally hated. I thought the animations were great (especially Spidey) and the fact that the characters weren't balanced was fun, as that's how superheroes should be.

oh yeah, I liked ICON too.

Indeed, going from Vendetta to Icon was painful. The game looked pretty though; but it would have been pretty and awesome by continuing what made the first two games so great.

Minority Report. Great beat'em up that's based on throwing ragdolls through breakable objects. One of the best levels is the interior of the main character... you can totally wipe out his appartment with the fight you get there.

DOA is great. It's like Virtua Fighter Lite (and I mean no disrespect by that) in that it's easier to learn/pick up and play. I got a group of friends into DOA 3 and later 4, the only fighter I could get casual gamers to play with me consistently.
