Posted this in the "DS game thread", and thought it should get more attention in its own thread.

Info recorded from SRK is as follows:

Windy x Windam: A new 2D fighting game created by Success and "Ninja Studio" for Nintendo DS and its based on the universe of Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, a Dungeon-RPG game that was released in the US by Atlus.

The first screenies are decent, somewhat similar to Bleach DS to me... hope that this is gonna be good because the DS really lacks fighting games. Coming on July 31 in Japan.

I'd like to think that Izuna did decently enough, for Atlus to consider bring this game over too. But we'll see. In any case, I think it looks hot, and could definitely do more to help the DS when it comes to good fighting games.

Well that's certainly... interesting.

I hope it's an actual good, worth playing fighter, though, and not just a half-assed attempt. And while I like the inclusion of Izuna (the character), it seems really odd to base the fighting game completely around that universe.

@TreIII: By the way a new version Scarlet Weather Rhapsody demo was released early in the morning today. It features a bit of Reimu's story mode, weather cards have been scraped ,skill cards still around, less spell cards and a bomb card has been added with another card. It also seems preorders for it have started so it looks like its release will come about fairly soon. Guess we'll find out more at Reitaisai.

I'm so starved for quality DS fighters, I'd take about anything. Well, about anything but that DF Naruto travesty. :lol

This looks interesting, but all it really does is make me pine for conversions of Capcom/SNK fighters. :(

Well, that was unexpected. Looks surprisingly good though. Definitely worried about the gameplay, however.

The pink hair sprite in the first screen looks like Lacus Clyne from Gundam SEED. Hard to imagine Lacus ever lifting a fist on anyone. She fits the Harvest Moon gameplay better.

Awesome, I'm a huge 2D fighter fan, and I got on with Bleach DS like cherries and cream. If this is even half as good as Bleach, Day 1!

Is Izuna such a big property that people would buy a fighting game based on it?

It seems like such a weird thing to base a fighting game on. I'm very picky about fighting games, so I'll have to learn more specifics about the mechanics before I can really commit. I did enjoy the Izuna game to an extent.

Well, I did hear that the DS version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was decent...

Yeah, tried it out. Very fun.

Furthermore, it was just announced that the full version of the game will FINALLY go on sale May 25th. Huzzah in the highest...and time for another thread, too...! :D

Well, Izuna showed up in Rondo of Swords as well, so I guess Success just really likes her or something. No problems here, so long as the game is good.

Also, I just realized that the next step must be Izuna vs Goemon: Unemployed Ninja versus Mystical Ninja.
