Sorry guys, I couldn't make the thread earlier today. I know there was some "rule" sometime back that only "authorized" people should make the weekly mag thread but that I think that's bullocks. If anyone has the information but doesn't see a thread, do help out. I can always edit the thread for inaccuracies and change the title if there are problems. But if you're really LAZY about making a thread and fill it with Japanese stuff without bothering to translate, yeah that's another matter.


Platinum Games announcements:

Bayonetta (PS3/360) - 2009

- Directed by Kamiya
- The main character is the witch Bayonetta
- The gameplay theme of the game is "Climax Action" where you use both martial arts and weapons to fight
- Weapons are equipped on both hands and both feet
- You fight angels
- It will feel like a "different kind of action" compared to both DMC and Viewtiful Joe

Hideki Kamiya will direct Bayonetta, an action adventure game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that looks similar to Devil May Cry. The game follows the eponymous protagonist, a witch reborn in a modern-day setting, waging war against angels. Details were scant, but the core experience focuses unique "witch-like abilities" and her array of guns--which apparently protrude from both her hands and her feet.

Infinite Line (DS) - 2009

Infinite Line (DS) tidbits : - Science Fiction RPG - Customize your space battleship and explore the universe - More than 150 blueprints of ship parts have been prepared. Build your battleship modules as you wish. - Choose among 200+ crew members. - Battle system is ATB (active time battle). The fuller is the gauge, the more actions you can mobilize. - Supports wireless battles - Nudemaker's Kouno is the director - Collaboration between Platinum Games and Nudemaker

Infinite Line, a sci-fi role-playing game, will be coming to Nintendo DS, and is being co-developed with Japan-based Nude Maker. It will be directed by Hifumi Kouno, who is president of Nude Maker and also helmed the Capcom mech sim Steel Battalion. The game, inspired by the Arthur C. Clarke novel Childhood's End, sees players embark upon a journey to become captain of a spaceship. With over 200 ship designs and a wide variety of ship parts to choose from, players will need to apply some thought, both when building their vehicle, and when choosing the appropriate crew to man it.

Mad World (Wii) - Japanese release unconfirmed

A few Mad World tidbits : - As you can see, the world is entirely black and white, with the exception of the blood - It's an action game sporting comical ultra-violence. - The themes are "Cheerful violence" and "Curb Brawler" -It's a game about a protagonist which carries his past on its shoulders and which is getting on with commiting his ultimate slaughter. - Director is Shigenori Nishikawa - The Japanese release is not fixed yet.

The final game announced at the event was Madworld, an ultraviolent action game coming to Wii. The game has a stylised black-and-white palette, with bright red blood providing the only splash of colour on screen. Madworld bears a striking resemblance to the Frank Miller comic series Sin City and the recent Gears of War 2 announcement trailer. Coincidentally, "Mad World" is also the title of a song that featured in an Xbox 360 Gears of War television advertisment. The developers said they aren't setting out to make a depraved or perversely violent game with Madworld, but rather a game focused on "fun," comical violence. PlatinumGames said they felt the Wii was missing "such a game [as] Madworld," with many games on the platform being too similar to each other. A brief gameplay segment was shown at the announcement press conference in which the game's lead character, Jack, used a chainsaw--controlled with a flick of the Wii Remote--to slice up foes, and was able to perform finishing moves such as impaling them on a nearby spiked wall. The game also features Bloodbath Challenge minigames. One demonstrated was called Man Darts, where the object was to splatter enemies onto a giant oversized dart board by swinging a baseball bat at the correct time.

Isn't this kind of a full load for a new studio? 4 games? I was under the impression that the studio was like 5 people with limited capital.

The old rumored Ecclesia shots had the word "Wii" written on the menu, coupled with the EGM rumor of there being a Wii/DS Castlevania then a lot of people have been assuming there will be some kind of inter-connectivity.

Oh, don't worry. The Famitsu screens validate the leaked screens from a while ago, and those showed Wii connectivity. Put that together with the EGM rumour of Castlevania Wii/DS and that rumour from last week that a Konami spokesman even confirmed it, and it's pretty much certain.

Konami is having their Gamer's Day tonight in San Francisco, IIRC. So, we should get solid info on it later today or tomorrow.

It's just that cheerful violence makes me think of serial killers and sociopaths, whereas comedy violence I don`t mind so much.
