If only you could do suplexes in this game. :lol
Too bad I probably won't play this because I don't have a DS... : /

Nah, it would be better suited to no handheld at all. It's been rough for the MS series lately but you'd think a numbered Metal Slug game would at least deserve a console PSN/XBLA release.Originally Posted by Jcgamer60
Can't complain. Although, I think a metal slug would be better suited for the psp handheld.
DO WANT!
DO WANT!
:D
Nazca was absorbed into SNK after MS1... dunno where the original IREM/Nazca staff are these days though.Originally Posted by _dementia

Youtube compression looks terrible when still-framed but here you go:Originally Posted by Dark Octave

Contra 4 was a great game, but I always preferred the overall feeling and aesthetics of the MS series better.
I'll be keeping a close eye on this one...I wonder if they'll include Leona, Whip and Heidern as secret characters for a "complete" Ikari Warrior set? :lol
wats this from?
Thank you.Originally Posted by handofg0d

Slowodown in Metal Slug? Unheard of! :lolOriginally Posted by Haruspex
Me spys a bit of slowdown, hopefully it was just because of Youtube. Still, I'm always up for more insane 2D blasting.
That's your own fault for missing out on the best library this genOriginally Posted by NeonZ
Disappointed at the lack of new characters, but everything in the second part of the trailer, especially the new giant slug and the triple one, seems really good.

The DS is on fire.
I think the sprites look on par with the Neo versions. The backgrounds do resemble MS6's blander stuff than those in the Neo games, though.Originally Posted by Bebpo
Looks pretty good. Graphics are a bit weak (The DS can't match the Neo-Geo in 2d?) but framerate looks playable. DS needs more games like this. Contra IV was awesome but not enough.
DS can emulate NeoGeo... it's pretty easily more capable in all areas (sprites, scrolls, colors, memory), though the screens are lower res.Originally Posted by Bebpo

That's what I figured.Originally Posted by jarrod

Yet the animation is not as good and the framerate is far worse than MS on NeoGeo. Doesn't make much sense to me.
I mean it still looks great. But it should be 1:1 with MS1-6 visually and it's not quite there IMO.
I think the sprites look fine. Just the animation and degree of slowdown considering what's on screen are the issues.Originally Posted by jiji

Likely because it's mostly recycled assets scaled lower res. Also, MS6 wasn't a Neo game, it was on Atomiswave (and also looked generally worse than the Neo titles imo).Originally Posted by Bebpo

Day one purchase, when is the US release?
So Japanophiles are the only ones who might want non-crap controls?Originally Posted by Minotauro
This might sound like blasphemy to the Japanophile contingent but they should seriously consider letting you aim with the stylus. Like, you point in a direction and it shoots there. I've always hated how the d-pad (or arcade stick) on these types of games always controlled movement AND aim.
What does that have to do with Japanophilia?Originally Posted by Minotauro

They'd have to add a lot more frames of animation to get that to work, besides.
Wasnt she in alot of the artwork added to Metal Slug Anthology?Originally Posted by shidoshi
Man that Combat School chick is 100% generic anime quality there. I have no idea what they're thinking with that one.

It does look great though.
My brother, a Metal Slug fan, always complains about the lack of co-op modes in DS games and will be seriously pissed about this. I'm also annoyed.. Was there any mention of the reason in NP?Originally Posted by The Main Event
Nintendo Power mentioned that the game is 1 player only. No co-op.
On a portable without watered down graphics and sfx? Check.
Day 1 purchase? Hell yes.
