It did come out a month ago after all... the fact it's still in the top 30 is actually pretty impressive for a PS3 title.

Judging from the website, it's a normal renai game with great art and the usual stupid minigames.
After seeing the design, I was foolishly hoping for some odd kind of SRPG. :(

Baseball Team pretty much opens like the last PS2 one did. Pretty impressive seeing that the other portable versions didn't do too hot on GBA. This one probably will have longer legs as well. Sega must be pleased.

Otherwise pretty slow week except for the usual suspects.

Seeing that the cut-off for the Top Ten is at 12k Bleach performs pretty much exactly like the last one. Said it before but it's really funny to see such a consistent fanbase.

Taken from Josh's site:
Code:

Famitsu 2005-10-24 8 21,516 21,516
Famitsu 2005-10-31 15 9,029 30,545
Famitsu 2005-11-07 17 9,025 39,570
Famitsu 2005-11-14 27 5,788 45,358
Famitsu 2005-12-19 0 0 55,565
They started out comparably but the Wii version performs a bit better overall. It'll die off soon though so it's basically statistical noise.

Both are not comparable in the slightest. Haven't played VC but LCT is enjoyable so I don't get the sad part.

VC did better than I expected, considering PS3's current state. Then again it's also the only game currently out that could interest the userbase and apparently had in-store and TV advertisement, maybe Sega expected more. Dunno really.

Considering...
- advertising campaign instore and TV
- no other remarkable releases in the same timeframe to compete with
- tailored to the userbase
...its a huge disappointment it couldn´t even move 200k.

It has "failed" but it's not a HUGE disappointment. The truth is that SRPG don't sell well in Japan now and 120k+ is more than most expected.

Sega initially shipped 100k of VC IIRC, so it didn't bomb at least. Of course it could (and should) have done better (say, 3 years ago on PS2), but I don't believe that would've been possible in the current Japanese situation.

Actually analysts from Famitsu predicted it to sell over 200k, and so did a lot of people here on GAF. Secondly, the game sits at #24 where it only sell like 3k or 4k. So it's nothing to go hoolaloop for.

No. Most people here expected sales lower than 100k

Sure, then again the writing was on the wall seeing the sales formerly huge franchises have put up thus far on PS3. On the other hand that wasn't really obvious when the project was greenlighted.
