I support this thread. Love TQ w expansion. Never really got into D2 (missed it back when it first came out) maybe a few hours but I spent 100 easily on this. Have been playing the Mythos OW beta the last week but might have to download those patches and go straight to the hardest difficulty.
Definitely down to play with some people online pm if interested. Yeah you have to get the expansion pack though not only does it add more of almost anything but the small tweaks it added made the game a lot better.

The Steam deal is TQ + IT together for $20, not sure if I was clear about that. |

Fantastic game, and absolutely my favorite Diablo clone of the bunch. Very customizable class system, very fun, and some of the most gorgeous environments I've seen in a game like this.
Just watch this video I made last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhbn9XvcAh0 |

I'm in act 4 epic and am walking through the game with my tank. I don't remember the exact names but he's an offesnive/defensive fighter. I literally collect 15-20 monsters at a time, plant my battle standard, and lay waste. I barely have to use potions. It IS easy.

This looks neat. I may give this a shot if I have any gaming time in the near future. I haven't bought anything off steam since Half-Life 2. Will the fan patch still work if you get the game off steam? And can I use it on both my desktop and laptop?

It is probable that eventually the fan community will start to look at fooling with balance, but right now, they're solely focused on fixing any bugs or glitches that they can (which they're doing a pretty damn good job of). Thanks to the world editor, they have easy access to a lot of stuff that they can fix. In any case, xMax lets you multiply the number of enemies (even bosses!). There are a few bugs with it I believe, involving a couple of side quests. Something to fool with if you've already run through the game anyway. http://www.titanquest.net/forums/mod...ers-1-1-a.html And the difficulty mod simply amps up the individual critters http://www.titanquest.net/forums/mod...culty-mod.html There isn't a '/players 8' surrogate, but there are these and other mods to tinker with the difficulty. |

After playing TQ it become almost impossible to play D2 again.
The skill system was fantastic along with the different classes. If only this game had closed servers......... Here's hoping Blizzard has taken a look at what Iron Lore did and copy some of them. Hopefully their is a world editor. |

Dunno, there were areas in each act I really loved. Act 2 had those awesome by-the-nile water areas, and some of the crypt and canyon sections were neat. Act 3 had the bamboo forests, the obsidian cave, and somewhere between the two, the hanging gardens, which were just awesome.
Most of act 4 was amazing, they knew what they were doing with the tools by then, so it has a huge range of terrain. |

I'm thinking of installing this. Had it for a while and just never got around to it. Glad GAF is here to hype it up.

Multiple partitions? I know some stupid PC installers whine if there isn't enough space free on C, even if you're trying to install elsewhere.
If not that, dunno. I wasn't a fan of the demo, reminds me of when I got into the D2 beta and was bored to tears in Act 1 :P The TQ demo is similarly small. It's also reallllly outdated, I don't think they ever did a new demo for TQ + IT. |

I wanted to like this, but the demo runs like shit, and that youtube video a few posts back tells me it runs no better in retail. When your walking around it looks like the screen stutters, for lack of a better word, every few steps. And basically vsync is mandatory because the tearing in the game is awful.

Titan quest is a really fun game. Especially for $20. Easily the best Diablo clone (but that's not saying much, since there are a lot of shitty ones out there). The ability to respec is something I always wish Diablo 2 had. Also, the shared stash is a bloody amazing idea, and I hope Diablo 3 incorporates these ideas since it will be all the small things that make these games better. The monster designs and art direction are also fairly good. The game doesn't come close to Diablo 2's atmosphere, but it gets the job done.
A couple things though... Act 1 is terrible on the eyes and it repeats the satyr enemy WAY too much. If you hated the game at the start, I'd try to get past at least the first act, since the assets get a lot better and more varied the farther in the game you go. (seriously, you can barely see half the enemies on top of that ground texture in the first act). The game is just too bright or something... and turning down the gamma doesn't change the fact you can't see enemies on the background. Another small problem I have with the game is loot barely ever drops. Maybe it's just my luck though... When you kill bosses, things don't drop off them, but there is a giant chest near them which usually has 20 uncommon items (which is the rarity level above normal) in it and a very small chance of dropping anything above that. I guess that's to encourage doing more than just boss runs, but the whole point of these games is getting cool loot. You get tons upon tons of useless items dropping off monsters that are all vendor trash, and the only thing you really buy in the game are potions. I'm at the end of act 3 right now with 1.5 million gold, and potions only cost 800gold to give you some degree of how useless money is to me so far in the game. Hopefully there are more money sinks later on. |

I need to fucking play this. Bought the launch version from a GAFfer many moons ago, always meaning to pick up the expansion as well.
Never did, so I never installed it. About 2 months ago I found Titan Quest Gold (original + expansion) for really cheap, and bought that. Problem is, whenever I get the itch, I tend to pop in Mythos, or just reinstall D2. Maybe once my new graphics card comes in, I'll give this a whirl. |

Plus, you can buy really, _really_ expensive greens off merchants every now and then. As you get farther into the game, the level of the affixes that show up on merchant items rises, so doing a quick scan now and then for greens (usually jewellery) can be handy, particularly if you know what you're looking for. |

Yes, IT works like LoD for D2. You either import a character, or start a new one, and go through the first three acts just like normal, then into the fourth.
Adding the expansion, off the top of my head gives you access to the Dream mastery, artifact recipe treasure, the item vault/shared stash, the enchanter for removing charms/relics and crafting artifacts, and new/updated loot. Maybe a few other things. If you do get the expansion, get the fan patch, it only works with IT. Nature is mostly defensive/support in nature. You can do pets, buffs, healing. It does have some fun toys for offense though, you can do nice stuff with plague. You get to pick two masteries though, so you can take Nature and supplement it with something more offensive. Spirit, Earth, Storm, or Dream could be used to make a nearly pure caster, or you could add Warfare, Defense, or Hunting to provide offensive power. The easiest builds to start with are probably Warfare/X (pure melee), or Spirit/X (staff attack/mage build). You can respec your skills, not your masteries, so pick the two you want carefully. Look over the various skills at the titancalc site and see what sounds appealing. Once you go through once, you'll have a much better idea of what you like and how you play. Otherwise, attributes can't be redone, so you're generally going to build either towards melee/ranged or magic (Str + Dex or Int + Dex). |

I'm very angry I bought this game off Steam yesterday. I wasted half a Sunday playing it. It's not the deepest but it's pretty fun so far. The only thing I hate is the item management they put in RPG's. I swear they do it on purpose to annoy you. I ended up accidently selling some great armour that is much better than my current one on accident. Somebody came out with a camera mod but I can't get it to work cuz I bought the game through Steam. It would make the game even better.
