Yeah, it'll bomb on all three!

Seriously, it'll get all formats number one just because of the number of platforms its releasing on, but it certainly won't do anything amazing for any single platform.

Trust me when i say despite the game lacking in quality it will still sell a large amount on all 3 consoles and it definitely won't bomb.

360 sales are usually more frontloaded in Holland then ps3 ones, watch it, in a week or 2 they swap places. Seen it happen with various multiplat titles.

Wii and DS software domination yet again. Although I should imagine this will start to change over the next couple of months with the rather large influx of major 360/PS3 games.

They're not in school NOW, it's 17:08. Plenty of time in evening to head down to The Trafford Centre and buy Mario Kart.

Check out this weeks weighted chart when it goes up and then compare it to when the kids were on holiday......i can see how that would be confusing for you. :s

The chart will probably show Wii down, but only PC gaining on it, just because of Spore.

PC and WII love! Another good performance from Tiger Woods on the Wii. I'd love to see PES Wii go against the other versions at the same time. I don't get Konami...

The kids are in school now, shouldn't the number of titles charting go down? You are the one that came up with this kids theory based on number of titles charting.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised NHL 09 didn't chart.

Hey, one of the biggest weaknesses of the weighted chart is that despite consistent sales of Wii Fit, Mario Kart, etc, the release of new games incorrectly puts these titles lower on the charts, which makes a big, big difference to the weighted chart with these titles being really high up and really important on the weightings.

For that reason, there is very likely not that much difference in total Wii software sales for this tracked week, than those sales of the last weeks of the holidays, where Wii was also high.

Incorrectly assuming that Wii Fit and Mario Kart sales have gone down massively due to the introduction of Spore leads one to assume that Wii software sales have gone down.

Based on these this reason, any use of the weighted charts as evidence or even an idication of your hypothesis of actual software sales for Wii, this week, is totally null and void.

Tiger Woods Wii up again. The system really seems to be rewriting the book on legs for console games.

Europe is now Nintendo's biggest market, by a huuuuge margin.
And WiiFit should reach 10 millions in some weeks, based on its continuous presence in the charts.

I fully expected FFIV to do what most other DS games do, FFCC: RoF included - shoot upwards. As for DQIV, I quietly shed a tear when I saw its absence from the DS Top 50...

The number of titles charting since the kids have gone back to school has gone down, so what is your point?

I have never seen a single thing to advertise either Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest being released. If I hadn't have visited GAF I'd never know they were out. Not even a single note in my local GAME Store.

I'd buy both, but being recently made redundant I can't afford such luxuries for the timebeing. :<

Pretty surprised Mercs is still at No. 2, seems the 360 fanbase is really dependable.

Some movers this week in GH DS and Spore DS. The latter was pretty much expected due to the "normal" software behaviour on DS but what's with GH? Promotion?

What's with Off-Road as well?

Also paging test-account about M&S. Big jump. If this keeps up you could be right about it after all.

Kids don't game on PC and 360. EA those cunning bastards knew all that and had the launch of Spore and Mercs coincide with the end of the kid's holidays, where Wii and DS sales all go into the shitter, to gain the No. 1 position and bragging rights. It's clear as day for anyone with half a brain.

That TW Wii went up while the other versions went down is easily explainable as well. Due to the kids being in school again they have less time to play games and thus their Wiis get occupied by their fathers, which - as luck has it - are very devoted to videogame golfing.

Gone, it's still No. 12 on the 360 charts but yeah, as expected it was only a short stay in the individual format charts.

Yes it is entirely possible and this has been discussed many times before. However with the lack of hard numbers the weighted chart is the best thing we have. My point is not based on just one holiday to school term transition it's based on the last 4 school holidays where they all coincide with a dramatic rise or continued high of wii software sales and the week the kids go back to school there is a dramatic drop in wii sales on the weighted chart. This isn't conclusive proof but i am yet to see a single shred of evidence from anybody that kids whilst on there school holidays don't boost wii software sales above what they normally are.

NPD doesn't include PC games with their console sales and I haven't heard them give any numbers for PC games either. PC games tend to get weekly charts by ranking.

Quote:
EA 1-2-3 second week in a row

EA continue the 1-2-3 at the top of the Entertainment Software Top 40 for a 2nd week with ‘Mercenaries 2: World in Flames’ (-5%), ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09’ (-9%) and ‘Spore’ (-23%).

Sega climb 4 places to No4 with ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ rocketing 85% over last week thanks mainly to promotional activity, especially on the Wii version. Nintendo drop one place to No5 with ‘Wii Fit’, although sales hold up over last week, and remain at No6 with ‘Mario Kart Wii’ climbing 17% over last week. Take 2’s ‘Carnival: Funfair Games’ drops 2 places to No7, up 3% over last week. Rocketing ten places and back in to the Top 10 at No8 is Activision’s ‘Guitar Hero: On Tour’ (+143%) which was a lead promotional title on DS. This week’s big new entry is Midway’s ‘TNA Impact!’ at No9 while Nintendo round off the Top 10 with ‘Wii Play (-8%) at No10.

I also wonder why some of these games that you mention (GH DS, Spore DS and Mario & Sonic etc.) got a bump this week. When i saw the Mario & Sonic bump i though that either there was a re-stock going on so more copies were avalible, or that this was a slower week in general so this title went up in ranks. Maybe the game was on sale last week at some store chain or something, but i dont know.

Its pretty much just a wild guess for me that Mario & Sonic will contunie to sell well and/or chart in the UK Top 40 until this christmas, but who knows :) Its still quite a few weeks until christmas, but it might have a chance, we'll see what happends :) But even if it doesnt, it has sold over 1 million copies so far and its preformance is amazing anyway! :)

EDIT: I now see that GarthVaderUK have posted the Chart Track info and it says that Mario & Sonic had a special promotion, especially for the Wii version. I guess that is why the sales went up this week (well.. last week) :)

EDIT 2: I also see that Guitar Hero DS also had some promotion :) It doesnt say anything about Spore DS, but maybe that game also had some promotion, hence the boost in ranking for that game this week?

Can someone explain to me how the weighted chart works? I've been wondering about it for weeks now, but i have been lazy about asking before now hehe :\ But now i think it was about time to ask instead of delay the question further :)
