Wowhead was given the official on the WOTLK release date announcement, via Blizzard skinning their homepage with an ad:

http://www.wowhead.com/

This is confirmed as official.

Awaiting Blizzard confirmation, but this is great news. Means I can do a real preorder at gamestop instead of the placeholder one they have set up.

I wonder how much I screwed myself over by deleting
my mounts, all my armor, hearthstone, giving away all
my gold and then deleting my character last time I quit
(September '07)...

I don't understand why people do this. Is it to make some sort of statement? To make sure you don't come back to the game? Why go through all that trouble when you could just cancel and save it for later.

Very immature move IMO.

I bet they're really feeling pressured with the boredom making a lot of players quit and guilds break up. As of right now unless you're raiding SWP or playing arena for 2K+, there's no reason to be subscribing right now. Warhammer is probably taking a lot of userbase away as well.

But, this is good news. Playing the Beta today made me crave the retail official release.

Weird they'd wait this late to announce it and then NOT do it at Blizzcon, but whatever. Just glad it's finally confirmed. Now, let's see that Collector's Edition!

If people are quitting as badly as you said, why would subscriber numbers be rising? Either way, I've been in beta for over 2 months and all the stuff in there is just amazing, any GAFers that did quit need to come back.

Yea they're already closing in on 12 million. Lich King could shoot it towards 15 within a few months.

I figured the WotLK beta did that well enough. They gotta have something for Blizzcon and I can't see them being in a position to announce the SC2 release date, Diablo 3 release date, or another game. I guess they don't need a headline out of it but I just figured they'd have some major announcement there. Guess not.

I think a lot of the numbers that Blizzard likes to release in statements are pampered by unknown information. Like how many of those are from the Asian countries or how many of those are purely for gold selling and the like.

My server became a ghost town and from friends I've heard from other servers it's the same way. It's been almost two years since TBC came out.

World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules.

I wasn't aware, though, that there was some button you click when subscribing that tells Blizzard that the account would be for gold farming.

According to the most reputable source we have available, North American subscriptions certainly aren't increasing rapidly, but they are still on the increase. That may get a bump with WotLK. I suspect you're falling prey to anecdotal evidence providing your conclusions.

There's not a magic button. But Blizzard has access to a lot of statistical information and I'm sure they're tracking how many 'active' players there are among the userbase.

Regardless, I don't want to get into a pissing contest over something that there's no clear evidence either way.

The beta so far (outside northren lag) has been great. There's no reason to pass up on this xpac, it's really a great piece of work. I figured it would hit sometime before black friday.

But I agree, let's see some info's on a collectors edition

We'll probably get more Diablo III media, and probably a new class. Maybe some more info on SC2.

You can just make a new character on a different server if you don't want to be able to use stuff from your other characters. And you can always go back if you ever wanted to.

I think he was intimating that you could've made a good amount of real-life money selling your characters and then just starting a new account if you wanted to play again:P

I've been working on a Priest the last month and I'm not sure what to do with him.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...&n=Montgomerie

I'll be hitting 70 with him some time in the next week. I don't think I've got enough time between now and November 13th to do everything I want to do with him in Outlands.

Things I'd still like to do:

1. Get epic flyer - got one on my Hunter and I don't think I can live without it. It'll require me to do some heavy mining for a couple of weeks to come up with the $$$$

2. Run Kara - still have not gotten to do that at all, but I know there are some gear requirements. Not sure if I can get geared up to do Kara, much less any of the other BC raids.

3. Run all the BC instances. Its tough to find anyone to do any non-heroic instance these days, and I most definitely won't be geared up enough to run heroics when I ding 70.

And really...I'm asking myself, what's the point of trying to get geared up this late in the game anyway?

I'm just not sure what I should focus on in Burning Crusade since we're down to the last month or so of that expansion. Outlands will be a ghost town come November 13th.

Maybe I'll just get this toon to 70, grind out the cash for an epic flyer and then quit until the expansion arrives.

You know, it might actually be easier to do all that (aside from Kara) after the expansion. I've got this strange idea that there might be unusually high demand for healers out in Outlands come WotLK.

You know what's so ironic about this coment? Warhammer was the one who had content axed in order to be launched before WotLK.

So yeah, someone is feeling pressured alright, but it sure as hell isn't Blizzard

Very immature move IMO.

Um, it's wasn't to make any sort of statement at all. That
doesn't even make sense. Neither does the immaturity
comment.

But, yeah, it was to make it as difficult as possible to go
back to the game. I "quit" 7 times or so before that since
launch. It isn't that easy to just cancel and stay away;
especially when you still have an interest in gaming and
honestly do find aspects of the game quite enjoyable.

I feel bad for the people who can't just quit and stop playing as they please, even at the height of my love for the game, the minute I got bored, I canceled and didn't worry about it. I have a friend playing now who insists on logging on every night and just sitting in Shatt, even though he has absolutely nothing to do.

I know. I prefer my own formatting though. Moving

I'm typing is somewhat exhausting. Thanks for the
advice, though. Much appreciated.

By the way, I'm not hitting enter randomly. I try to

I'll grab it for sure but I doubt I will resubscribe just yet. The servers my characters are on are more or less dying or dead in terms of the community who I played with at the time.

I just want to try a Death Knight out, like everyone else. And maybe some new Shaman spells
