Wii Music Japanese Website re-opens. Summary inside. #1

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/r64j/index.html

Summary (check out the links for pics and videos too) :

1 - Anyone Can Enjoy Playing With Instruments (With demo vids)

2 - Ad Lib Performance (demo vids at the bottom of the page)
- Choose among 50 tunes, 60 instruments, and a selection of stages
- As you play alone, you can record 6 different instruments separately and mix them.

3 - Share Your Clips With Friends
- Record your performances.
- Design an album cover for each record
- Share these with friends
- You can also edit and add-in your own performance to the records you've received

4 - Lesson Mode
>> Basic Play
- Learn the fundamentals of the game
- practice every instrument and memorize the different control schemes

>> Re-arranging Lessons
- Learn to choose the appropriate instrument depending of the the type of song, as well as the basics of conducting a musical performance.

>> Drum Lessons
- Use both hands (Wiimote + Nunchuk) and your feet (Balance Board) to learn how to play a practically complete drum set.

5 - Minigames (there are three of them, and a demo video for each)
- Minigame 1 : Conduct a Classical Orchestra
- Minigame 2 : Connect the Handbells
- Minigame 3 : Test your Musical Sensitivity

And that's about it. Not much new details, but I think overall it 's a good summary of what to expect from this game in term of contents. Anyway, looks and sounds rather appealing to me. Depending on how much it costs, I could see myself buying it and getting enough fun out of it.

Oh, by the way, there is a new 'Iwata Asks : Wii Music' entry on the official Japanese site, which probably means that it won't be too long before it's posted on the US/EU sites. Just a heads up...

These don't seem to be Miis. More like the generic CPU characters that play when the entire band isn't comprised of human players.

interesting to see how well this game sells
where's the dog and cheerleader?
I hope there're more elements like Mario Paint

but they changed the appeal a bit. Even if this are NPC Miis.

Perhaps we will see some new kind of Miis soon. A hat and more customization would be cool :)

It's interesting to note that the boxart is different than normal Wii boxart design. There is no "Wii logo corner".

There does, however, seem to be a NeoGAF logo corner. Still, kudos to Nintendo for trying to find a way to appeal to the core gamer. At least you're doing something.

Is this the thread where fans of music games laugh at how casual Wii Music seems? Damn it, I was looking for the thread where Madden fans laugh at how casual Wii owners are because they DIDN'T buy Madden. Oh the hilarity, here I come.

The adlib of 'Grandfather's clock' is *exactly* why I'm going to love playing this game with the youngsters.

AWESOME.

And in the Iwata Asks bit, Miyamoto-san said that he has long been discussing with Koji Kondo that rather than just making game music, it'd be good to have the Nintendo sound team make a music-making game someday.

What with Koji Kondo being so generally amazing, this is full of promise.

Haven't read the rest yet. It's suitably full of [laughs].

EDIT:

Read on a bit more. Miyamoto said when they finished this game he felt a happiness he's never felt before when making games.

We're never getting another Mario game, guys

(笑)

Site's been updated with some new clips/themes : "Super Mario Bros", "Legend of Zelda", and "Animal Crossing Wild World". Don't forget that you can also check out an arranged version of each theme by clicking the second option above the video :

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/r64j/adlib/index.html

That Famicom instrument is insanely cool ...

By the way, it's worth pointing out that the Iwata Asks : Wii Music has indeed been translated on the official site. See also the thread on this.

Thanks for pointing out about the arrangments. That's what I wanted to see more of!
