My worst experience with random people in the beta was when one set off a vehicle and then died and we were all left standing around with nothing to do. I was telling the leader to restart the level so we could have some fun, but all he'd do was stand around or try to run up an impossible slope. Eventually I just quit and left the others to their misery.

This is why careful checkpoint placement and emitters for potentially destructible objects is so important.

Can this costume be found in the game? Where?

Some questions about the level editor:

- How exactly do you go about making levels like Meerkat Bounce and that Tetris clone - the way they spawn the items?

- In the mini-games that have you spawn elsewhere after you die, how exactly do they go about doing that? Would having the checkpoint move to the end after you've activated it work?

- How do you make an infinite platform-type thing that only ends when you die?

So are we still missing GameSpot and 1up reviews? Anymore?

I guess they won't come out until they get a chance to test the servers.

they should...though, there isn't any real release date as far as I know.

Retailers will just sell it whenever they get it.

Exactly. This game is not idiot-proof. It is very idiot-prone and the Internet and PSN is just full of complete wanksocks. This is just the nature of things. You need to think of the absolute dumbest fourteen year-olds you can imagine -- the sort who would make tiny pants for each leg because they can't wear their pants any lower -- and find a way to try and combat every stupid, griefing, idiotic thing they will do. Then you bring them in and put up with their idiocy, their horrible hairdos, and their nonsensical homophobic insults and you watch them break it still and try to find a way to minimize that.

I'm afraid that Mm haven't quite taken that into account enough and are hoping a bit more for a fun, polite, family sort of thing where everyone has fun in a great, charming manner. I just foresee problems.

No. It was said earlier and I thought it was in the OP: there was a beta, but there will be no demo.

I'm not sure on this one as I don't have the full game yet. My guess would be cleverly designed emitters.

Quote:

All of these move the checkpoint in some physical manner. Easiest method is to use a directional piston.

Have the entry point be on a piston that is pushed or pulled to right over the scoreboard shortly after you enter the level. In that level, it would happen at the same point as the floor opening, and you can see the piston at the end.

Oh, and the moving infinite platforms are just controlled by an emitter setup.

Seeing your level come together is one of the most satisfying experiences I've ever had with a game. I must have already put about 10-15 hours into my first level, and gotten like 5 more ideas from what I learned creating this one :)

I got the game on the 20th (it's 23rd here in Japan, btw) and though I've had class everyday, other than that and hanging a bit with my gf, I've been playing this game all the time during my free time.

So I'd say... around 12 hours or so, but I'm not 100% on the objects, in fact I have maybe a couple stages around 70%-80% and a few other in the 90%'s.

Hard? Fuck yeah it was hard. Some areas were quite hard but cool and not annoying, but some other were a bit cheap (and annoying because you have to restart the stage again to get the 'Ace').

Of course, as I said, I have yet to get 100% in all the stages and now there's the whole Create mode and the thousands user-created stages to play. So this game won't get 'boring' for quite a loooooooooooong time :)

Seems like this wasn't posted yet. Edge's review is now online at http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/...e-edge-verdict.

It ends pretty well I think:

But even those accolades are dwarfed by its scope, its potential, and the apparent endlessness of them both. Some days ago we had a shot discussion here about how to place perfectly straight rods or pistons over a long distance. People asked for those tools to stick to the grid. I offered video evidence that it is possible to extend them straight even without them sticking to the grid.

Well, I now discovered you can have rods and pistons extending perfectly vertically or horizontally without the grid and without being cautions with the pointer.

All you need to do is bring up the rod/piston tweaking menu BEFORE placing it and then make it stiff. When actually placing it, you'll see you can only extend it along the axes.

Actually, even easier:

Place a piston in the surface you want and connect it to the platform you wanna move. Press pause and then move the platform to the 'maximum' place you want it to reach and set the piston to stiff.

It works quite well :)

The point was not how to connect platforms far from each other. The point was how to make it so that the rod is PERFECTLY horizontal or vertical.

I pre-ordered online at Gamestop and got my Kratos Promo code e-mailed to me since it was online. I tried to enter it last night and it came up invalid. Are the e-mailed promo codes working already?

ZOMG new patch is out.

Downloading 1.02 right now. 57MB (1.01 was about 45MB IIRC)

*Prays for servers to be up*

Will edit this post with differences I see. First thing I'll do is check the blasphemous song... (installing now)

UPDATES
- Servers are NOT up yet :(
- Blasphemous music is still there BUT THEY REMOVED ALL THE LYRICS. It's just the music.
- Everything else looks the same. Sticky issue is still there.

The servers not being up is confusing. What are they waiting for? The shifted release date is only a few days before. I assumed they were going to put it up to test the roll out first. Sort of a wierd move by MM.

Not sure if it's already been posted, but there's a video here of a (rather empty) LBP 'brand space' in a shopping centre near Covent Garden in London:

Apparently it may be travelling around various places, but it's there until Nov 15.

They should serve free coffee and stuff. The place has an artsy coffee shop vibe, that's the only thing missing :p
