PSN Latinoamerica is ON!!! (No PSN Store Yet) #1

Im From Colombia, and the last night I create a account with all my original Data (Colombian Address, Phone number, Etc.) and works Fine, the only problem is... The PSN Store No works Yet, But... I can play Online With This Account!

I think the PSN Store will be available in 2009

Thanks For that Sony!!!

PD: In the last days... the only way to play Online with my PS3 was create a US Account with Fake Data (a Hotel Address, Phone Number, Etc.)

If anything, console manufacurers have always seen South and Central America (excluding Brasil which has their own distribution system usually) as a different busines region than North America, and there we always had to settle with imports, high taxes, counterfeit or simple piracy.

I remember when the original XBOX was the only console that an actual launch in Latin America, but that was a few years after release. I believe the PSP had a recent official release too?

I am aware of how people in countries outside of the main internationally supported territories have to face hardships in terms of getting access to the latest consoles and games. But this guy guy has already overcome them, has he not? The only achievement I see here is the PSN accepting a Columbian address for the first time. Nothing else, not even PSN store access.

This is supposed to be noteworthy in any way? It's just half-arsed support from Sony. I'm sure this will make the OP happy and maybe some others from his country, but isn't it far from what the OP would want ideally, ie proper support from Sony for his country?

As a side question, I do wonder what barriers are in place internally with the game companies that prevent them from supporting countries such as Columbia. Is it cost? Something else?

First of All, In this moment i can play with my real Data (Colombian Address, Phone number, Etc,) i don't know but... Maybe create an account with US Data, when u r in colombia is Illegal! No?
and U R Right, for now, i can only play online and i got no colombian PSN Store, But This is The beginning (I Think), Colombia Got a lot of Sony Style Stores, and in that stores sony buy PS3 Consoles and Games (No the season Titles, but i can buy the games in my own country Now). and if sony put a data base with colombian Citys, Departaments, Etc in the creation account tool... maybe the Store is coming soon!

Colombia please, Columbia is a state in the US, right?

And it is noteworthy, it might not be for you since you live in your awesome crystal ball and don't care for any other people's busines.

But I would guess that just as a Colombia database was added, it was the same for any other Latin American country, therefore showing that Sony finally cares about this market.

Protip: Sony never care before about this market during the PS1 and PS2 years. That's why the piracy for these 2 consoles was so big, since besides the obvious cost problem, there was almost not a single place where to buy original PS games.

Now, this won't solve any piracy problems, but it does show that Sony is taking LA into account and that a PSN LA store might be in the plans for next year.

I don't have time to create an account, but I'm curious wether it'll let you add an Argie credit card...

on the other hand, even if it does, we'll probably have to deal with additional delays and [even] higher game prices.

so, as I was saying :

Aparentemente si, pibe.

Anyways, I hope they will lower the price for PSN games, since we are paying all the games X 3.5. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening....

Posting? You're the first one I've seen.

My main account is from the US and Entropay never worked for me. Fortunatelly, I bought a PSN card from Ebay from a very reliable user. I can send you a pm with his username, but if you have an european account I think it won't work =/

This is worthless until The PSN store is up. I've been downloading demos and free stuff with a US account for a while and I'll keep doing the same.

We have to be honest here: Microsoft has awesome infrastructure for LIVE in Mexico. It mirrors the US LIVE service perfectly -even the Marketplace-. I don't know how it's for the other countries in LA...

Well.. when you get access to all I suppose you start expecting more and more things whereas when you go from nothing at all to something, you eagerly take any morsels you are given.

And please, it's ColOmbia, not Columbia.

ps. I didn't know mexico was the only privileged latam country in xbox live.

To be sincere, no company (Sony. MS, Nintendo) really care about us (Latin America) as a market, but they are quite vocal against piracy in a market they do not even care to officially distribute to.

Sony is just now starting to manufacture PS2s (and possibly PSPs) in Brazil.
