Final Fantasy XI NXE Issues
#1
It seems the install game feature of NXE has caused a lot of FFXI 360 players to have issues with the game. From the look of things, it stems from the fact that FFXI already required a HDD install before NXE and it's causing NXE to error when players attempt to start the PlayOnline Viewer.
MS and SE have no solution yet, but it looks like you need to reinstall FFXI, don't install it to the HDD through NXE and use the VD Collection of WotG disc to get it to work properly. Anyone have a better or temp solution to this problem? Here are some complaint threads: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.htm...;num=23;page=1 http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.htm...;num=25;page=1 http://forums.xbox.com/24127630/ShowPost.aspx |

Does XI actually need the disc in the tray on 360?

I just canceled my content ID's because of this. SE is probably as much to blame as MS, the 360 port is an FSOD, frame dropping turd fest. MS never fails to encounter problems with these MMO/ORPG's they waive their rules for. PSO's Xbox 1 hunters licenses caused some very serious issues with Gamertag migrations back when 360 first launched.

So, I reformatted my hard drive and inserted the POL disc. It read fine. I went through and reinstalled POL, FFXI and updated to the latest version.
I turn off my 360 once the update's done. Turn it on after school this morning, and it won't read the disc again. This is a really annoying cock-up. I really want to play. I called Microsoft tech support and was met with "Isn't Final Fantasy on PlayStation?" I guess I'll either have to find an older copy of the game or upgrade my hard drive if I wanna play. Sucks. |

why would you install the whole disk after initially installing the game content on your 360 int he first place?
all the disk does is allow you to boot play online. it will not improve performance. The games already on the HDD! are you really so lazy you cant stick a disk into your 360? :/ |

Right now, the only way for users experiencing this problem is to install the WotG disc to the HDD. If you don't have it, you're shit out of luck and you can't play the game, let alone boot up POL and uninstall the game without reformatting your hard drive. |

If I uninstall POL, but don't touch the FFXI files, I don't lose my macros right? I never backed them up to the server and I'd rather not have to redo all of them.
I have a 120 GB HDD on the way, but I'd like to play before that arrives... and without losing my macros if possible. |
