I love that Lucky Boy remix by Surkin! Mixes so good after the Soulwax edit of Dominator by Human Resource vs 808 State.
Mentioning DJ Mehdi, I fucking love his 'new' tune, Pocket Piano. The original in itself is massive, and it's backed by a brilliant remix by the wonderful Joakim. I should buy that picture disc whenever I'm in the record shop again. I still regret not seeing Daft Punk at Pukkelpop in 2007, probably my biggest mistake in my life ever. I thought I didn't have any friends that wanted to go, and afterwards I had a ton of them saying to me "you weren't there??? you should've joined us!". I swear I almost wanted to kill myself. Also, my biggest tune of 2008 is probably the Erol Alkan edit of ZZT's The Worm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBb-b...next=1&index=7 I love the part at 2:50 where the buzzing bass suddenly turns into a monster of a chainsaw! Gives me so much energy when the volume's up and I'm on the dancefloor. Love that track. I think it sucks when I just give it a listen in iTunes btw, this is one of those songs that should be played LOUD. |

So, Lifelike, Braxe etc. = Nu-disco? Is that different to the slightly glitchier, not as vocal stuff by Justice, MSTRKRFT etc.?
A lot of my previous mixes have been electro/minimal-based, so I'm really looking forward to doing something that's a fuckload housier and laid back... especially considering it's Summer here in Australia :) |
