Capcom reveals more release dates #1

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/ca...lease-calendar

Quote:

Capcom has announced a few definitive dates for early 2009 releases, putting seven titles on the horological map for the start of the year.

Alien-based sheep-herding puzzler Flock! is coming in February, and will hit PC, PSN and XBLA all at once. At the opposite end of the spectrum, as we already knew, bully-faced beat-'em-up Street Fighter IV slots itself into shelves on the 20th. At least for 360 and PS3 - PC dates are as yet unconfirmed.

The Wii's very own zombie splatter-fest Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop has nailed its bloody flag firmly to the forehead of the 27th of February, where it will be joined by Neopets Puzzle Adventure on Wii, PC and DS.

The calendar of gore continues with the previously announced date of Friday the 13th of March for Resident Evil. MotoGP for Wii will appear in the same month.

Finally, Bionic Commando will be swinging into town like an unwholesomely liberated uncle at some point during the first half of the year.

Very awesome for just the 1st quarter of 2009. Wonder what they have left for the rest of the year.

The worse case scenario is that it's not awesome but the regular edition has the most godawful box art ever seen and you feel compelled to get the CE despite its lack of value.

They can take their time. The last thing I want them to do is rush it and screw the franchise's chances over, when a month of repolishing or reworking may have made all the difference. It took them a while before they were happy with where the multiplayer was going, for example, despite "having" it for several months already.

First of all the game wasn't on any console that is on VC and how can Capcom release this if they no longer jave the Marvel license?

That's why I'm asking. I don't know if they can or cannot. Hence the '?' at the end of the post. So then I'm guessing they aren't (or cannot) release the game on VC?

1) Going to VC is pretty lol. XBLA or PSN and
2) didn't stop Konami from releasing TMNT Arcade (with UBI's grace)

@2: I don#t think Capcom thinks tha tit will be worth the trouble to try it. Isn't the Marvel situation even more complicated because the licenses are all over the place? They would probably have to give money to Marvel, Sega AND Activision.

Quick Google search came up with this from an article quite dated:

Quote:
Speaking to Gamasutra, Marvel vice president of interactive media Justin Lambros intimated that he would like to see classic Marvel fighting games hit game download services like Xbox Live Arcade.

This also, coming full circle:

Quote:
A tip from a user on the NeoGAF Forums revealed that the Entertainment Software Rating Board has recently rated Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with two new Platforms added to it’s listing. Joining the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox are the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which would seem to indicate that the title will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.

edit: The link back to NeoGAF is to a thread actually started by........... Shard!

Maybe because they don't have a 360, but they have a PS3 and want to play this game.
It was rumored as a PSN game (cheaper to produce than a retail game, maybe too old for selling it as retail).

Previously it was scheduled oficially for Q1. Some places said March and others Feb. Who knows.

The Spanish magazine Hobby Consolas scheduled it as in the Jan issue as "Summer". Maybe it's just a placeholder date, but oficially it was scheduled as spring in NA & Europe.

Ding ding ding.

Since supposedly their big cross-platform engine is so easy to port shit over with, there's no reason to not want Dead Rising on PSN as a $29.95ish digital-only title... it's the only one of the high def games from Capcom that I can think of that isn't multiplatform, and it could help to get PS3-only owners pumped for DR2.

It makes perfect sense for Capcom, who follows the multiplatform strategy, to capitalize on untapped markets, especially on a platform where they could feasibly get away with no manufacture cost whatsoever thanks to every console coming standard with a large amount of storage.

As far as I can tell the rumor was created on neogaf by PS3 owners.

Yeah, I've never seen a credible rumor either. My statement was kind of just a throwaway "man I love Dead Rising" sentiment before it got latched onto.

I know they said they're making DR2, but did they mention PS3? I don't remember.

Perfect sense and Capcom are two terms that don't go together.

If they were making DR for PS3 I assume they would have announced it alongside the Wii version.

About the Dead Rising in PS3/PSN rumor, I think it comes from a Capcom post in the Playstation forums and its replies in the comments. Maybe appeared previously in EGM and / or Surfer Girl.

Oficial word about that (Sven is Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development of Capcom):

DR2 is a rumor. It was rumored to be a PS3 and 360 game, and being developed by a NA based dev. Inafune talked about that in a recent 1up interview, btw.

Originally Posted by jeremy1456:

Unlike in Wii, they had a lot of scheduled both retail and PSN games for PS3. Maybe they want to focus the hype in the announced games until they released all or almost all their announced stuff.

And maybe they want to release DR in PSN just before DR2 (if it exists and would be a multiplarform game), like they did with Bionic Commando Rearmed and the 3D sequel.

I think it would be a smart move. They would keep the IP hyped / alive more time, and all Capcom fans would be happy. But just now are only rumors and guesses of the fans.
