Link fail?

EDIT: All better now.

I think some of it is the low quality of the sample. Obviously came from the same library. I remember my kid's teletubby that sounded like it was saying "big cock" and "bite my butt" but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't. It's just unintelligible and the "sounds like" becomes a "can't unsee it" type moment.

To see the video just delete everything after the & symbol.

I think that they may be misunderstanding the quote itself, it is baby talk after all. It's also a fairly innocuous phrase to begin with. They make a huge deal out of it being in an E rated game but it's not offensive in any way. There are people of all ages who practice Islam. If it is actually saying that, why would that quote even be used to begin with?

That particular sound is probably in a widely-licensed "baby sounds" library used by multiple game & toy manufacturers.

I don't want to turn this into a religious debate, but I love the insinuation that it's somehow disgusting. It's like outrage if a toy said the F word.

It's a game that uses the same soundclip as the dolls it's based on. Yippee.

Personally, I don't think it says what they say it does. Sure, it sounds like it when you're reading off the words as it plays, but, as they say, you can't miss it when I tell you what's there. It's probably just another case of a jumbled bunch of nonsense turned viral pareidolia.

Oh for fucks sake. It's just baby gurgling sounds and even if it did say that who cares?

It's like a parody i love how serious the newscasters at the beginning of the report take it.

Would there be this 'uproar' if the speech sounded like "Christianity is the light"?

I remembered the Ashley's song from WarioWare "hidden message" debate.

Man was that one stupid? I couldn't hear a single thing, just that 'i will grant kids to hell' rythm with the fast looping of the song.

While the report is a bit silly, that game and the baby are creepily repeating the same sound clip. It does really seem like someone saying "Islam is the light". Its on the level of the Little Mermaid castle-towers seeming like penises, or the clouds in The Lion King seemingly spelling "sex". Sure, pretend like its coincidence because there is no reason for it to be there.

Interesting thing to wonder about; what if it sounded like, "Christianity is the way." instead? If "Islam is the light." was put in there on purpose for some subliminal reason, then yeah that's pretty screwed up and someone should be held accountable. Just saying, how willing are we to accept or even push this kind of thing when it's our own religion?

This is worth broadcasting over the news? Exactly what is so offensive about 'Islam is the light'?

It is quite sad to be honest.

Realistically, even if that's exactly what the doll said, how is it end-of-the-world bad? Would it get the same reaction if it was "Christianity is the light"? I guess I just think even at the worst case scenario, how exactly is this going to negatively affect a kid? They probably don't even know (or give a damn) what the hell it means...

2. Well, -I- think that it says, "Jesus is the light."

You do realize that something like this in the Middle East - only reversed, say: "Jesus Christ is the light" - would cause violent mass protests with public burnings of the products?
The hate/disgust is not exclusive to Christians. It can go both ways.

"Oh noes! Islam is the light! My kids will become terrorists now! Nooo"

EDIT:
Now that I think of it, it IS kinda weird. I mean think about it guys. Why would someone do that? I don't mean to say that Islam is Satanic or anything, but why would someone think of that, then record it into the doll? I'm curious. Even if it said "Christianity is the light," that would still be weird. A baby uttering gibberish would not be able to think about such "complex" concepts, so it's odd that they would be putting it in there.
