Code:
08. [PSP] Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, PSP the Best (Capcom) - 22,000 10. [WII] Wii Fit (Nintendo) - 19,000 I know last year when WiiFit took over 2ndG people said it would never look back, but the Best version has been marginally outselling WiiFit pretty much since it's been out now, so theoretically they could meet again... |

As the second week prediction for RE5 turned out pretty well, let's press our luck and see about a third week prediction. :lol RE0-4+CV sold anywhere from 5-15% of the first week total in their third weeks. As going with RE2's second week percentage (18%) worked out very well (RE5 was 19%), let's go with that for the third week, as well. RE2's third week was 9% of the first week, so if RE5 is 10% of the first week total, it should sell ~40K next week on PS360.

isn't this just a port of two games ( already on PS2 and other platforms ) without even huge graphical upgrade . why these J-PS3 owners didn't bought Folksoul or Valkyria chronicles for Games sake |

Called the Musou Orochi Z sales :D
According to Sinobi, the first-week-to-LTD sales history of Gundam, Musou Orochi and Dynasty Warriors on PS2/PS3 from 2007 onwards.:
Quote:
More Sinobi on the new PS3 best-selling list:
Quote:
2. Yakuza 3 439,000 copies 3. Minna no Golf 5 410,000 copies 4. Resident Evil 5 384,000 copies 5. Dynasty Warriors 5 371,000 copies With the current figures it doesn't seem all that likely that Yakuza 3 will break 500K. It might shade the 500K mark with the current release but it's a stretch. The re-release should do it. Resident Evil 5 PS3 showing more initial legs than Yakuza 3 with less drop-off for first-to-second week sales figures. I think it has a fantastic chance of hitting 500K at this rate. Actually, if you combine the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue SKUs together (http://www.japan-gamecharts.com/ps3.php):
Quote:
GT5:P is actually the second best seller after MGS4 now in Japan. Finally, Demon's Souls dropped from 8,000 to 5,700 but it's definitely breaking 90K. Reaching 100K will take some effort, or a best of re-release. PS3 hardware not doing too good, despite the bump from all the software.

About whether PS3 will reach 3 million or 360 will reach 1 million first in Japan.
Media Create Hardware Figures: Code:
Hardware | This Week | Last Week | YTD | LTD PS3 | 39,835 | 36,513 | 271,836 | 2,894,264 360 | 14,994 | 11,795 | 125,861 | 956,401 Mixing it with Famitsu Hardware numbers for this week (PS3 28000 // 360 7400) Code:
Hardware | This Week | Last Week | YTD | LTD PS3 | 28,000 | 39,835 | 299,836 | 2,922,264 360 | 7,400 | 14,994 | 133,261 | 963,801 PS3 needs ~78,000 to hit 3 million (3 weeks at this rate:28000/week) 360 needs ~36,000 to hit 1 million (5 weeks at this rate: 7400/wk) I think it's closer than it looks, because the PS3 is still enjoying a hardware bump from Orochi, RE5 and Yakuza. 360's bump seems over. When it returns to normal PS3 may sell at the ~14,000/week rate again, so there's a chance that the 360 will reach the 1 million mark quicker. The only difference maker due out soon would be the FFXIII demo on April 16 2009. That's due EXACTLY four weeks from now and that might push one before the other. I still think 360 has done a fantastic job. This is a situation where congratulations are due in short succession. |

01. [PS3] Musou Orochi Z (Koei) - 104,000 / NEW
Really nice for a port, its a bigger start than if you combine both orochi PSP ports starts (~93k). I'm not going to doubt Koei will make Orochi 3 sooner or later but I wonder on what platforms it will be released and when exactly on them. Took them 2 years to bring the first two to PS2/360/PSP/PS3. 04. [PSP] Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid (Koei) - 32,000 / 328,000 Good legs but it doesn't seem to be catching on with time, it started big and its dying slowly like many Musou games. Guess its not replacement for Monster Hunter but no doubt at all Koei will expand on this, be it Multi Raid G, Multi Raid 2, Multi Raid 2 G or all three. 08. [PSP] Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, PSP the Best (Capcom) - 22,000 / 496,000 MHP2G + MHP2G The Best! = ~2,948,000 Three million in three weeks. I doubt anyone anywhere could have seen rehashing and porting Monster Hunter PS2 games to PSP would have led to near 6m sales overall and 3m for a single expansion. 09. [NDS] 7th Dragon (Sega) - 20,000 / 102,000 Its really matching Etrian Odyssey 2 (86k -> 23k for a 108k total). Bring it already Sega :/ 11. [NDS] Annie no Atelier: Sera Shima no Renkijutsushi (Gust) - 15,000 / NEW The first DS Atelier (Lise) did 22k first weeks which was near Iris 2 and 3 numbers too. Bit of decline but even with the limited budget Gust manages, this one has to be even more limited. __. [WII] Phantom Brave Wii (Nippon Ichi Software) - 2,300 / NEW Pff, keep the ports to handhelds signal. All three Disgaea ports (PSP, PSP The Best and DS) started way bigger (22k, 17k and 15k) and before you say Disgaea is bigger than Phantom Brave, see this: http://garaph.info/softwareindividual.php?gameid=1787 Phantom Brave outsold Disgaea on PS2 and did just 2000 units less than Disgaea 2. DSi 34000 PSP 45000 Clash of the handhelds next week! DSi gets three new colors on the 20th and PSP gets two more on the 19th. |

I like how the PS3 outselling the Wii on certain weeks is now (for how long, I'm not sure) considered fairly normal activity. I've liked the PS3 much more than the Wii for the last few months, so this is nice to see.
Well deserved Biohazard 5 sales. Biohazard will never return to the immediate million selling status of the PSone days, but Biohazard 4 proved that being creative with the platforms and releasing cheaper editions can help you get back to selling a million. Aside from MGS, I think Biohazard may be the biggest-selling non-FF/DQ classic franchise in a really long time. Certainly it's bigger than Tales and Musou at this point. |
