I always go back to play Tekken Tag Tournament every time I start playing Soul Calibur or Street Fighter. Next to VF5, Tekken Tag Tournament is my favorite fighter.

I'd say Silent Hill is more of a standout in that regard. Silent Hill 3 is well above its sequels, even the sequel on HD consoles.

Two things:

1) shouldn't be any breaks for remakes; the Tomb Raider ones look great, but putting Anniversary right after Tomb Raider 1 and not right after Legend breaks up the feeling of evolution. Just like REmake should be right before Zero, but not anywhere near the PS1 generation

2) don't put handheld games in the middle of a console discussion. Minnish Cap and Mario Kart DS broke up the feeling of evolution from their respective posts.

Other than that, you all did an awesome job and I really really want to play some of these series again.

That's true, the charm was always the 2D versions. I still have Exoddus lying here in mint condition from back when they did PC games in the big boxes. I miss those times.
