What the hell is this? Man, and I had high expectations from the damn videos with the extreme music, this just seems boring (and this is from someone that almost exclusively plays SRPGs, and turn based JRPGs).
Oh well, if they have a demo, I'll give it a try, until then, color me unimpressed. |

That new video is interesting.
Before I was interested in the game just because of the concept of the story and the visuals, but the new video is making me like the gameplay too, altho I have some reservations. Last edited by Lain : 09-03-2009 at 01:15 PM. Reason: typo |

I think I came...
Barrels exploding lolllll. After Half Life 2 I'm sick of exploding barrels. The first part of the vid shows off invincible actions, I'm just wondering how and when can you activate those. I like how there's a wall that can be used for cover (it had HP). The battle system looks sickkkkkkkkk |

Maybe its just me but I think the battle system looks fun as hell. Then again I loved VP2's battle system and never grew tired of it, this seems like a logical progression to me. The jumps and flips don't bother me as it seems that tri-ace is just incorporating their own sort of "bullet time" acrobatics that a lot of 3 person action games have nowadays. Day 1 for me.

I'm guessing (hoping?) that won't be the length of a normal battle.
But that actually looked pretty interesting to me, if maybe a little clunky. Hopefully they can streamline it a bit and make it flow a little more smoothly, but I'd imagine a lot of that will just come from experience. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This... looks... soooo good. I am absolutely in love. And it finally feels like it's taking on it's own identity to me; before I was thinking "Hey, VP2 with guns, awesome!" Now it's more just like "Hey, awesome manifest!" I also love the ridiculous amount of shit on the HUD and popping up And unusually for me, I really like the sound of the Japanese VAs. Sega, do no disappoint: get a good English cast together!

That looks like a mess. I don't understand everything that's going on. Lots of quick cutting. Nowhere near as good as some of you say.
I know it's Tri-Ace but they haven't exactly been on fire this gen. I'm more interested in the exploration and locations anyways. |

Looks more interesting than the previous combat video they showed.
Just glanced through it quickly, but it seems you select a path for a char to run through, and select enemies in the way you can shoot, and enemies who you're near can also shoot you back. |

If her name is ReanBell, she is definitely my favorite. The moves are so wicked. I think it is unfortunate that those enemies do major damage while the party seems restricted to weak attackts that slowly descrease the enemies HP.
I didnt know the environments, or at least, pieces of it were able to be destroyed |

Watched the video again (no sound :( ), few notes:
Icons at the bottom seem to represent party action points. One move = bar goes down. It seems to go back up when you do special things like blowing up barrels or do big damage. Not sure exactly what it entails. Seems you can determine movement range and select targets before initiating the turn. You can also see enemies' range (eg. the wolf) depending on your location. Yellow bar on the lower right (on the character bar) depletes as your turn goes by, and seems to determine how much/often you can attack. On two occasions, the girl's movement line is replaced by a triangle connecting the 3 chars, which seems to trigger some sort of combo attack involving all 3 against one enemy. Definitely sounds interesting, but more details are required. It could potentially be pretty tactical, depending on what other factors are involved. |

Battles look awesome. I'd like to see more exploration footage though. All that's been shown of that is the hex grid and a couple of seconds of running through that city, right? The VP games have such awesome, epic dungeon designs, I hope EoE carries on that tradition!

Battles look like a lot of fun. I liked the little combo and the "SMACKDOWN" thing, and it's cool to see a cover system. Hopefully really insane stuff happens around the end and in the bonus areas.
Not the greatest battle theme I've heard in a tri-Ace game though. :( |

The Famitsu article was pretty massive. 8 pages in all. The blog also updated with the Japanese voice cast for the revealed characters in the game so far. Can't translate now though, going to play some L4D soon. :(
Edit: Forgot to mention, the JP preorder bonus is a 10 track special soundtrack disc. |

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but that battle video was a little... eh. I'm not entirely changed to a doom-n-gloom stance for the game, especially since the video itself did show some pretty big glimmers of hope.
The combo attacks shown near the beginning of the video looked rather interesting. Doing "jump and do flips from one end of the screen to the other" pattern for the rest of the battle vid, not so much. This is giving me more of a VP2 vibe than ever before in the respect that the game is going to look awesome when played right and look like some really, tedious shit when played incorrectly. Specifically, if you were not doing team combos in VP2 all of the time (with some small exceptions), you were playing the game wrong. Here, I could see the real focus of the game being some really crazy team combos. |

Howdy all,
As your resident SEGA Community guy, I bring some cool news - I'll be meeting with Tri-Ace for an interview in a little over a week, and I'd like to get you guys in on some of the questions. I can't promise that I'll be able to ask them all, but I'll pull in as many as I can - you can submit them here. Oh, and that offer also extends for Valkyria Chronicles and Phantasy Star Zero, too. Time to dig up those threads and spread the word. This comes as part of our growing community initiatives here at SEGA, and as a fellow fan I'm stoked to see it all coming together. If you have questions you'd like to ask the fine folk at Tri-Ace, this is your chance - enjoy! |
