Yeah just checking Eden now, I can really see a difference (or at least my brain is telling me so.)
Will check Wipeout HD now. Someone said Portal on XBLA but I can't see it on that one. Also need to have a look at the game mode on the TV to see what that does.

Something to be wary about.
Some games proclaim 1080p but while not incorrect, this often refers to the vertical resolution only. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is 1080p but it's actually natively rendered at 1280x1080p and not 1920x1080p (still, it's pushing out more pixels than most games). The 1280 horizontal resolution is scaled by hardware to 1920 after rendering.

Man checked out Eden, Wipeout HD, and Geo Wars 2.
Its not as big as a jump from SD to 720p but man 1080p looks great, I;ve been getting as close as I can to the TV while playing too, really messed up my Geo Wars 2 game :lol I think it's half just having a new tv just for gaming, got one with hardly any lag time, fast refresh etc and it's like I have a new system. Now to work out this game mode, get the surround sound set up and play some games today. Any other guys make the jump from 720p - 1080p and have anything that stood out? |

Ridge Racer 7 is the showpiece you want for a PS3 hooked upto a 1080p TV, looks stunning running at full 1080p/60hz.
Whilst Full Auto 2 does actually run at 1080p with 4xmsaa, it, really, really shouldn't, runs at about 10 fps most of the time and is unplayable in 1080p mode. Make sure you're screen is 1:1 mapping the 1080p output. Turning "Just Scan" (or simlar) on usually achieves this. If you're seriously interested in playing games at native 1080p (and who wouldn't be, it can make a huge difference to IQ) then you really need a PC to accomplish it. On the bright side, the $160 GTX 260 (216) copes with 1080p just fine, it'll run most console ports and games of that level at a full 60fps at that resolution even with some aa and plenty af.

Playing Outrun Online Arcade I noticed that it is much better if I let my TV scale from 720p (setting XMB to 720p and disabling 1080p [and 1080i]) to its native 1920x1080 resolution than if I let 1080p turned on and I let the game scale the output to 1080p before sending it to the TV (Outrun Online Arcade is not 1080p native)... else the IQ, especially the XMB text (in-game XMB), is considerably worse...
Strange... |
