Not only is it my favorite Tom Cruise movie as well, it's one of my favorite movies ever. Cruise was really good but Ken Watanabe was the one who deserved an Oscar. He was great in The Last Samurai.

Everything in The Fountain score, my favorites include:
Clint Mansell - First Snow
Clint Mansell - Stay With Me
Clint Mansell - Together We Will Live Forever
Clint Mansell - Death Is the Road to Awe

John Murphy - In The House - In A Heartbeat

John Murphy - Rage

The score is basically In The House - In a Heartbeat over and over and I loved it.
John Murphy - Don Abandons Alice
John Murphy - Welcome to Britain
John Murphy - Knock, Knock / Cottage Attack

Michael Andrews - Liquid Spear Waltz
Michael Andrews - Time Travel
Michael Andrews - Cellar Door
Michael Andrews - Waltz in the 4th Dimension

Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard - Aggressive Expansion

I know it not a movie, but the BSG soundtracks have some amazing music on them, including:
Season 1 - Boomer Flees
Season 2 - Something Dark Is Coming
Season 3 - Battlestar Sonatica

I love that one too along with Tree of Life, The Last Man, and Finish It. Work and Holy Dread! are the only tracks in the soundtrack that don't amaze me (Holy Dread! sounds awesome in surround sound though).

I love many scores for movies, many have brought me to tears and have touched me in certain ways.

But no piece has ever made me feel stronger emotion and bring harder tears than The Breaking of the Fellowship from the first Lord of the Rings film.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ9NOV3KNpY

The swell from :20 to :30 is one of the most perfect thematic developments in an orchestral score I've ever encountered. It's one of the few instances I think works so perfectly running along the film, completely expressing what you're supposed to be feeling at the time of which it plays.

Perfect, absolutely perfect. Howard Shore shot up to my favorite film composer because of these films.

Truly the best film in the series. I would have probably been satisfied with just this movie. I thought Return of the King was the worst of the lot, unfortunately :(

Amarcord - Nino Rota: I hear this music when I imagine Italy a hundred years ago.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance: Borrows some of Vivalidi's most memorable pieces and has a lot of solid original compositions.

The Lion King: Hans Zimmer's creates a spectacular mood, from the incredible opening montage to the movie's climax. The Lion King's songs might be lacking, but its score certainly isn't.

Fog of War - Philip Glass: All of Philip Glass's scores imbue Errol Morris' documentaries with energy while being understated and simple enough that they don't become a distraction. Very simple, memorable, and effective.

Setting the Trap, Home Alone - John Williams: I love it!

As for X-Ray Dog, I'm not a fan of a lot of there stuff (but hey, they mass-produce various genres of movie music, so whatever), but Revolutiony's kinda catchy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuYqDmPsl7w

If there is something with western theme nowadays, you can be pretty sure the accompanying music is heavily influenced by Morricone's spaghetti western scores - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly as the most notable one.

Edit: Rachel's Song from the Blade Runner score needs to be mentioned:

A.R.Rahman is a Genius composer, and if you liked Slumdog, then you'll LOVE some of his other soundtracks he has made for Hindi (Bollywood) and Tamil films.

Slumdog in comparison is an average score, compared to the OST(s) of these:

- Delhi 6 (2009)
- Roja (1992)
- Rang De Basanti (2006)
- Rangeela (1995)
- Yuvraaj (A masteful mix of western and eastern music) (2008)
- Lagaan (2001)
- The Rising (2005)

I haven't seen Tamil films, but much of his finest work is from Bollywood films.
