I put a couple of hours into it and am definitely liking it!
At first I was slightly underwhelmed because I was having a real easy time with it. I think I won every match with ease until Great Tiger... who reminded me of the good old days of getting my ass whooped over and over, heh. I'd gotten up to Soda Popinski and called it a night. (I'll admit Bear Hugger knocked me down a couple times till I remembered the duck trick). I must say, when I heard Aran Ryan was in the game, I thought "what a waste." There were some bland characters in Super Punch Out, but he was probably the LEAST memorable. Fortunately he's basically a completely new character, and one of the coolest in the series! He's like, no... he IS Brad Pitt from the movie Snatch. It took me a while, but I finally figured him out and it felt great doing so. My only fear is that I'm through most of the roster and have only put a couple hours into the game. Word of title defense makes me more optimistic. Initial impressions: + Beautiful cel shaded characters brought to life with all of the personality I imagined them having as a kid. + Punch-Out!!! done right for the modern age, without sacrificing what makes it special. + More of a re-make of Punch-Out!!! than Super Punch-Out!!!, with the heart system back (although Super Punch-Out's mechanics WERE truer to the original arcade machine) - I wish there were subtitles in between rounds to translate what your opponents are saying... though I'm at least glad they brought back what they did. - I know that it's basically a remake, but a few more NEW characters thrown in the mix would have been welcome. - This is probably a minority opinion, but I would have liked it if you were punished for losing. You can always restart where you left off. Especially with the new exhibition / hologram mode to tweak your strategies, the old system extended replay value and would now not be nearly as frustrating as before... I always felt the old way gave oppenents a certain mystique (as in, OMG I got to Super Macho Man!!!) and gave the "circuits" their own identity. Either having limited continues or being ranked down like in the past (until forced retirement) is something that I would have liked to see. |

GOT IT! :D
Picked up the nunchuck bundle at the Target next to the Kids Health Club I work at and brought it to wok since the kids I work with get to play Wii after they finish their weight curcuits and cardio exercises. I'm requiring the kids to use the motion contorls though otherwise it's not an exercise, :lol We'll see how the kids like it! |

Is it common knowledge that you can basically memorize the various boxers' moves order and react accordingly?
For instance, on Sandman, you can win the first knockdown (on every round) every time if you know he'll do: 2 punches you can dodge quickly 1 "stand still" punch you can get a star on if you punch his face 1 punch you can dodge quickly 1 "stand still" punch you can get a star on if you punch his face 2 punches you can dodge quickly 1 "stand still" punch you can get a star on if you punch his face 3 punches you can dodge quickly 1 "stand still" punch you can get a star on if you punch his face 1 punch you can dodge quickly I think you get the KO after that and have full stars for the next round which I think he starts with the night-night punch... So is this just a game of memory?

How do you beat von kaiser the second time? I can't dodge that punch he does when he gets up.
