Dubstep was such a good genre about 2-3 years ago, it's flooded with average production and remixes now it's completely lost it's touch. It's like the trend of breakdown metal a couple years ago, this fad will be over in a year or so.

What on earth is the point in posting in the thread if you don't like it?
Shall I go off into a metal one and post some pointless shit no one cares about.

If it was "good" 2-3 years ago how about post some fucking songs from that time period instead of bitching about it?

I still listen to "Discovery" by Daft punk which was from 2001 and its still better than 60-70% of all house music out now but it doesn't make it rubbish or average genre..

These pesky kids eh? Where were they 2 years ago?

Most dance music is the same, hell, most music in general is the same. Just be a bit more selective when you go out. If you really can't find anything you like anymore, move on to the next genre of music that makes you feel like you're part of THE CUTTING EDGE.

Edit: for a little bit of content, this Doctor P song is pretty rank.

I never said anything about being part of the cutting edge, dubstep has been around since 2000-2001. It's productions like these that have ruined it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS6BeKdkYPw (yes that is the blatant melody rip off at the beginning as well)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljpSqCuf2Qo

If you guys want some of the original and best dubstep, get dubstep allstars
http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/2327428/Dubstep-Allstars-Vol-1/Product.html?&_$ja=tsid:11518|cc:|prd:2327428|cat:Music+%3E+CD+%3E+Dance

Allstars was the definitive compilation.

Dubstep is great, but I agree you have to look hard to find the good tracks. The genre seems to have hit a bit of mainstream and is getting flooded with loads of similar uninspired wobble tracks. I prefer the more experimental liquid burial-step/2step/future-garage spin-off stuff. Whatever, all these genre names and hybrids are giving me a headache. The names, not the tunes. :P

Some good tunes I've come across lately:

Von D - Berlin Call
Silkie - Beauty
Synkro - Everybody Knows
Nu:Tone - Set Me Free
Sduk - On A Low Low
Boxcutter - Rusty Break

fucking LOVE this genre, was helping us power through our capstone last night :lol

during summer last year BENGA came to dj in a little club here and it was one of the greatest club experience I've had, but what tops it all off is that he came over to my friends house where we were holding an afterparty. He was a completely chill guy down to earth.

Listen to CRUNKED UP or 26 BASSLINES by him if they haven't been mentioned already

Now... that's just going too far!

I'd wager there is plenty of "modern dubstep" you're not familiar with- especially since it seems you're not particularly interested in the style. There's a lot of stuff that annoys me personally (Caspa for example) but plenty of interesting stuff out there as well.

For something a little different... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w1zf...eature=related

Caspa's remixes are far better than his original material (aside from riot powder, that is insane on the sub), I'm familiar with a lot of modern dubstep, I'm quite good friends with zack kemp (otherwise known as trolley snatcha) and have shared a few beers with subscape before. Although with the new job I haven't been able to get to any decent dubstep nights for a few years now. My personal favourite modern dubstep producer however, has and always will be Sukh Knight.
If you're looking for a good night with the producers, go to Fabric.

That album looks good...I like the Dub Techno sound. I discovered Organon recently and got this EP
http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Pt-1/dp...47782&sr=301-1

For comparison with Dubstep, which is very different, this EP by RDubz,
http://www.amazon.com/Fears-Feelings...5822893&sr=8-2

Dubstep, Dub, and Dub Techno are three different genres. The best way to explain Dubstep and Dub Techno is that both have some element of Dub, the genre derived from Reggae. It's either the reverb/echo/delay effect the texture and vibe of the tunes, or the rhythms. Can't really explain dubstep but listen to some of the songs in this thread and see if you like it..

One thing about dubstep is that its "filthiness" has listeners as well as artists being profane just for the sake of it, which is a shame considering I do like the sounds of the genre: the wobble, the beats, the samples, just not all the crap I feel like I put up with just to listen to it.

Thanks for the insight, friend. I guess my preference falls more towards Dub Techno; Radio Rothko puts me into a trance when I listen to it. It has such a futuristic and spacious sound to it, hard to explain really.
