First Prince of Persia (the movie) Footage Debuts on ABC #1

It's not technically an official trailer nor is it a preview of a scene, but during an interview with Jerry Bruckheimer, they revealed the first actual footage from the movie.

Check it

While still literally a year away (even though they finished filming last year) it's interesting to finally see the movie in action. Also, Disney is intending for these movies (of course they have a trilogy planned) to be their next tentpole franchise since the Pirates movies are currently in limbo, so I guess we could consider this the first video game-to-film adaption to really have some cash (and notable talent) behind it. **EDIT: That I can recall :P

The people who did the CG for Potter, Dark Knight and Pirates are on this.. so it'll be good in those regards at least. Now I see the footage.. I don't see why this film should need such a huge studio doing CG for it..

More or less. The film is actually called Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and (naturally) follows the story of the first game on the PS2. Although I doubt they'll go down the Warrior Within road for the sequel, at least in terms of the brutality.

Yes, absolutely.

I disagreed with the notion that this is the first game-to-film adaptation with cash and some notable names behind it. :)

I hear Jake Gyllenhaal isn't even of proper royal descent. Prince of Persia indeed. Their disrespect for the source material is disgusting.

People need to stop saying this. Having recently watched a Uwe Boll movie, nothing can quite compare to just how bad his work really is.

Pirates would have never been a success without Johny Depp. I don't see a Johny Depp here. I see a steroided Jake Gyllenhaal with an inverse smile stuck on his face in a movie that takes itself too seriously.

But then there's Bruckheimer behind it. So it's going to sell tickets somehow.

But it needs some sort of humor or something.

Hey btw, does that mean Prince of Persia might find itself in Kingdom Hearts?:D

Uh, do we even know if they'll follow the "EVIL SALTAN SAND MONSTERS MAGICAL DAGGER THAT CAN SHAPE TIME" plot of the first game?

I would agree with you on the sequels, but the first Pirates was strong enough to stand on its own. Geoffrey Rush was particularly well cast as Barbossa.

I was all primed to hate on Gyllenhaal but he actually looks like he could kick an ass or two. My interest is piqued.

Everyone was great in Pirates, but what I meant was that the movie was what it was, and funny as it was, because without Depp it probably would have gone in a different direction and not just for Jack.

Here, the movie seems to take itself seriously. Everyone will be staring at Jake's muscles, no one will find him funny if he cracks a joke.

There's a reason why Indiana Jones, The Mummy, and Pirates were "funny" movies. You don't sell such ridiculous stories any other way.

Unfortunately that always isnt the best solution considering resources and whatever fits for the role. Not many of those types in hollywood is ready or active for the role. Theres so few and betting on unknowns is pretty risky compared to a actor thats fairly known and [hot on the come up] can cater to a certain movie going demographic.

The people judging the movie from 20 seconds of footage are just on full-retard mode, jeez. Actually Jake and his hair LULZ look fine, and so does the girl. Also, this isn't really based on the Sands of Time videogame, nevermind the subtitle. It deviates heavily from the game, so don't go expecting a literal adaptation, lest you become disappointed when the first trailer hits OH NOEZ
