This game is too much for me. I already like the Guardian too much, and because I like him so much I know he is going to die. But not only will they kill the Guardian at the end of the game, they will instead have him fatally hurt saving the boy from death. They will then give you control of the boy on an epic climb to where the Guardian is dying - with him letting out little whimpers as you climb, before letting out one last roar as you finally reach him. This brings you to the final scene of the game, giving you a chance to walk up to him and give him a pat him on the head as he closes his eyes forever. *Credits Roll* :(

I'll do one better...the birdcatthing is fatally wounded saving your life. But if you leave it wounded, it will die a long miserable death. It will look into the boy's eyes, tears rolling down his eyes, asking the boy , to finish it with a knife for a quick easy death......the boy doesn't want to do it..but knows his best friend is in so much pain...and unwillingly he does it ..hugging it and crying ......

In the last TRICO thread I wished that it would have the most happiest ending of a game ever.

Others commented that this could well be an Ugly Duckling / Swan story. In that case, the kid is the Guardian, and he helps the Griffen reach Swan status.

If it ends with the kid flying away at the end on a beautiful transformed creature everyone will shit themselves. It's really the Udea thing to do!

From my development experience, I've NEVER seen a game have so many sequences that would stay intact over two years after being originally made, too many things change during production. Yet this is a frame-per-frame copy of the original one, with updated graphics, almost as if it was a movie rather than a game production.

The scenes were similar but they were redone. On my first watch I noticed instantly the differences in the animation. Boy falls past the ledge. The barrel throw is overhead not a sidewards throw. The guard does not pull out his sword before being decimated by baby griff etc. Some good changes some bad but overall good. I personally like the first take when the boy does a hand stand on griffs head then leaps to the ledge.

This is like no other game I've seen before. Uncanny valley does not exist despite it looking so "real." Its the animation mostly. The animators on this game are amazing. The griffin is just real.

This game (along with their previous games) is so far above what the industry is currently churning out. Its embarrassing. Thats not really fair though since Uedas team is pretty much free to do whatever they want. Every large publisher/dev whatever should seriously consider doing the same thing. Just start a new studio with great artists and coders and just let them do their thing. Fuck focus testing. Fuck upper-managements stupid ideas. Just let the artists create art how they want. If you want games to be taken seriously let the devs take the medium forward. /rant

Would it be safe to assume that this game will have no cg at all? All in game cut scenes? I never got to play ICO, but SotC didn't have any cg cut scenes. I would assume that will be the case here with The Last Guardian.

Those blackmarks may not necessarily be tear stains but Ueda and Team ICO knew exactly what they were doing when they designed that creature to have the black marks streaking from its eyes down to its cheeks. It's no coincidence that they resemble tear marks; they imply that the poor creature has been hurt, tortured, and imprisoned throughout it's life. And yeah, I had a lump in my throat watching that trailer. The yearning, kindness, protectiveness, and loyalty shown by the creature reminded me of my ailing dog. :( :( How Ueda managed to capture all of that here is incredible.

This could happen, but since the title is Last Guardian - when this happens, the creature will then be gone off the face of the world forever once it's done its thing. Basically, ending a la Secret of Mana 1 where the world between human and sprite divides.

Perhaps something like:
Creature and boy are still in the world where mythical creature and magical guardians still exist side by side - the creature needs the boy's help to seal an ancient artifact/power/being so that it cannot be used/manipulated by the humans. Once the seal is placed (or whatever grand objective is met), however, the world between the humans and magical beings are separated.
