What's hilarious with this damage story is that the game supposedly was finish according to Kaz like 2 months ago and now they talk about things they are trying to achieve for the final game??? The fuck is a final game? GT6 in 2057 ??

The translations, good lord.

Anyway, can't wait until the doors are blown off this game. I'd love to see some Rally footage, especially now that PD has the WRC license.

"We could release this game tomorrow if we wanted. Damage is only the tip of the iceburg we intend to do in the long list of features planned for this game. GT5 will be coming out right after GTPSP. Look forward to our announcements of features coming later in the future! Ah, the graphics engine, yes it is indeed finished as is most of the entire game, we're just polishing it up. And weather is something we might consider as we go down the very long road of game development that we're just starting on with GT5."

What the hell? Shortly? If that is the case the demo of GT5 at GamesCon has to be a year old.

Umm... I hope that's a dodgy translation because it sounds to me like they're using demo feedback to decide what they're doing with the damage.

If you've been paying attention to GT over the years you'll understand that PD have an extremely strange definition of shortly / soon.

I wouldn't mind waiting on weather to be patched in like Valve does free updates to it's game. Oh, I'd love to see dlc events (free). Keep GT fresh.

The only thing I can say today ...
is that gran turismo 5 should be out shortly after that date.

What about damage?

The game code that we brought to the Gamescom marks the first step of what we are trying to do with the damage. You can finally see that much damage appear on the bodywork. but we're interested to know how far the players want to go. The damage has already repercussions on the steering but beware ... It should not affect all vehicles in the game.

After so many years to develop gran turismo, no weariness?

I cant get enough of gran turismo, there are always so many new things I want to do.

Proud of the evolution of gran turismo?

I think I managed to make my original idea. But, of course, many new ideas were shoved in my head during these last years. So today we are heading towards new exciting goals.

This sounds great. Not the damage bullshit, I don't care about that, but I'm hopeful for a December release again.

I want this game soon, but I'm gonna be mad at PD if they release this RIGHT GTPSP. One game at a time please, I'm not loaded and I need time to finish something :(

GT5 was the reason I bought a PS3 last year, so I am eagerly anticipating that.
However, I bought a PSP 5(!) years ago for GTPSP

A month or two of polish can mean a huge difference in the right hands though. Many games go from average to whoa in the last few months of polish.

that would not be polish, it would be including new features... and it might actually be much simpler... or harder... depending on what they did so far

just accept that we have no clue.

and seriously, enough with the stupid damage... i need to know more about all the rest of GT5. Stupid head tracking is what i will notice more in actual gameplay than damage.

The head tracking sound ridiculous. We don't have a 360 degree screen around us. If I turn my head left as much as needed as to look on my side, I would lose the screen just like I wouldn't be watching in the windshield of a real car.

I hope they didn't lose to many precious hours develloping this stupid feature.

I'm guessing, like with PC sim racers. It's not set to that degree of sensitivity. But instead milder movements for greater turning. Really not that hard to contemplate. And what are you talking about, this is one of the best features about GT5 now. It's that much closer to a proper sim now. When you match that up with proper steering wheel and clutch/manual support.

p.s. on youtube, one of the comments:

You people are idiots.

You obviously don't understand how this thing is designed. It EXAGGERATES your head movements in-game. You turn your real-life head 5 degrees, it turns the in-game camera 15 degrees.

I don't understand how people can think that this device operates any other way.

pretty funny :)

After seeing this, especially the helicopter segment (controlling a vehicle and the advantages of having this head tracking) I have no doubt that it would be very useful in GT5 if it works well.

I am willing to wait a lot longer for GT5 now. I downloaded the DiRT 2 demo today from PSN UK store and am very excited for the real deal. PD take all the time you need, I need to fully enjoy Dirt 2 and NFS:Shift first!

Speaking of gaming chairs and cockpits, does anyone know how Playseat Evolution is? Most important thing of course is comfortability, I'm thinking of buying this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Playseats-Clas...0827099&sr=1-4

The black one is $180 bucks, seems fair enough.

Of course I figured it would exagerrate your head movement. I just wonder if it will be of any real use. It really really does sound gimmicky here.
Also, I would probably catch some stiff neck of something after awhile. Anyhow, good for people that will like this option.

You catch stiff necks moving your head around normally? It's not much moving going on in his demo, it's not like you'll be moving it all the time only when you feel you need to. It's like saying you'll screw your fingers up pressing the buttons all the time.

Hope to see this feature demoed, hope it's not a lot of movement like this TrackIr thing.

And did you see the helicopter segment? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtK29Xu7e4g#t=4m15s, after seeing this I couldn't imagine the helicopter without his head movements. I know in some flight games you can press a button to look left, up and down, but you'll have occupied fingers. This seem like the next control step. The camera being where you need it to be like games with great cameras (GoW1, 2 like games).
