Modern Warfare 2 Wii? I thought not?
#1
While I don't have any interest in buying it for the Wii, I know there are some people who do, and up until now I was under the impression that there was no Wii version in development. Rumoured, of course, but so far only confirmed for PC, Xbox360, and PlayStation 3.
Why then does JB HiFi now have a ton of specific Modern Warefare 2 Wii pre-order boxes up? For those who don't know, JB HiFi is an Australian retailer of entertainment goods, and usually a great place to go for games due to good prices, always stocking pre-order bonuses / collectors editions, a great library of games that are often hard to find, and almost always up to date with the latest info on when a game will be released. On the shelf where they reserve space for the newest, biggest games the usually reserve extra room for pre-order covers. A simple place holder cover advertising the game as available for pre-order. In terms of the Wii, I know they've done it for MadWorld, Overkill, The Conduit, Virtua Tennis 2009, Tiger Woods, and Grand Slam Tennis. It's just a way for them to advertise unreleased games to those browsing. I was in the store only a few days ago and they had The Conduit boxes up, yet today they had Modern Warfare 2 for the Wii. This wasn't listed as 'all platforms' or something. These were specifically made Wii Modern Warfare 2 boxes placed directly in the Wii section. I don't see any reason at all as to why they'd put Modern Warfare 2 boxes up for the Wii unless they know its coming. I've seen MW2 pre-order boxes up for the last month or so, and they've always been kept to the Xbox360/PS3 areas, but now they're in the Wii section. So, what's the go? Are they right or what? |

There were several sites like Play.com who had it in their pre-order list, but disapeared again. We also had that Spanish dude, CaVaReYoh or something who said Activision had a Wii version in the works?
I still think there will be a CoD for Wii this year, but not MW2. |

Until recently, I thought it was already announced that a Wii version was coming. Anyway I'd definitely buy it. The WaW port was pretty good (especially the controls) and only lacked voice chat and a chunk of the online modes. Those could easily be added now.
Speaking of, what did they update in the multiplayer portion of the Wii version of WaW? I always heard they unlocked new modes or something but never bothered to check. |

If WII Modern Warfare 2 is coming (and it'd be ridiculous of Activision not to with WaW's performance and their desire to make MW2 the biggest entertainment property of the year), then either
1) It's not being mentioned because it's 2) It's such lower quality that they don't want to show it, yet (like WII 007). 3) They figure Wii's audience doesn't need the months of hype, so they can just advertise it at launch and be good (i.e. following Nintendo's model). I'm hoping for (3). :P |

If it existed, why would we not know about it at this point? MW2 comes out in November, right? They have already started airing commercials for the game, so you would think that if there was a Wii version coming, they would have added that to the ads. There might be a CoD game coming out this year, but it won't be MW2.....although I guess MW2 isn't a CoD game...

We still know very little about Modern Warfare 2 detail wise compared to some of the other big fall titles. Plus holding back and annoucing it later and showing it sort of serves as a free marketing megaton if they do it later and the Wii version actually does exist and it's not like the Wii version would need the hype level of the other versions to sell. Once again I come down on neither side. I have no idea if it exists or not. Just playing devil's advocate in this situation. |

It is true, CaV said that there should be an anouncement soon.

The benchmark for graphics on Wii is Dark Side Chronicles.

It'd be like expecting a commercial for Sims 3 to spur people to go out and try to buy the 360 version. |

If it IS being made, I'd like to know who is doing it. I'd also like to know why there hasn't been any mention of it- I mean, last year WaW was one of the only "core" games Nintendo showed at their E3 presentation. My only guess is that it must not be up to snuff yet. There isn't really a good reason to at least announce it (unless they think they might stealth-cancel it à la Brutal Legend).
I remember when CoD3 was hitting all of the consoles. For months Wii owners had to suffer through 2 shitty, tiny screens of the game. Real media of the game didn't hit until the game was practically out. |

Why not ask the people who made CoD3 and World at War for Wii?
http://www.exaktent.com/ I doubt it's coming though. |
