I played some fairly average usermade level on this last night. It was a bit glitchy, sure, but I think whoever made this editor deserves a fucking medal. Most fun I've had with a new Sonic since collecting the last super emerald.

Has anybody checked out the stupid Avatar creator for PlaySega? I wonder if Sega licensed any of the "costumes" in there, because there's a bunch for like... Wolverine, and Captain America, and Buzz Lightyear.
Using it, I have created something amazing ![]() I call it "Beetledouche". |

Praise our Sega EU overloards!
I played more user made levels today and it feels like the engine is more broken then last time, falling through floors and teleporting into walls still good fun for the most part. I just wish the sprite was a little smoother and not warping around everywhere when rolling down hills.*edit* just noticed sonic 1 MD on playsega has all the extra japanese paralax scrolling and effects. So I've been addicted. This level-designer is the most fun I've had with Sonic since longer than I can recall. It has a few bugs, but through playtesting the level rigorously, you can use the impenetrable tile objects to plug any collision holes.
I've made two levels so far, both quite well recieved. I've set myself some rules:
My latest effort, Garble Marden Act 2 (a sequel to Act 1) has turned out rather nicely. Excuse the massive PNGs, but I feel they show how powerful the engine is: ![]() I've highlighted the three paths through the level: ![]() RED: Difficult to find, a skilled platforming path with the most drops, badniks at inconvenient moments. Progress leads to the fastest and highest momentum-jumps, and further rewards. YELLOW: Requires effort to find, involves running on uneven platforms across a bed of spikes, easy with few risks, most direct route to end. GREEN: Default path, mainly underground, Sonic is given invincibility and fast-shoes and is dropped into a lair with numerous badniks. Requires semi-exploration to find exit springs, more panicky, paced and distinct than other paths. A gimmick path. More and more, I'm convincing myself that this user-generated content approach is the future of Sonic. This engine-type, expanded, revised, multi-console-released and backed with online infrastructure, would be my Game of the Generation. |

I've played through all three paths and they're all awesome. They intertwine with each other nicely, too. Well done level, Mama Robotnik!
The Buzz Bombers to the extra life at the end were awesome I really like that you posted the entire level layout, BTW. It's fun to check out. |

It says something that I've almost put down the money for a 3 month subscription just so I could create levels with the Sonic Level Creator, something that only has 1 tile set! In fact the only reason I came to my senses and stopped was because of a problem on the sites end. Sega, I know you won't do this, but you should seriously consider adding a level creator to Project Needlemoose, if it really is going to be 2D Sonic then a level editor would be fantastic.

Another effort: Garble Marden Act 3.
The engine has some interesting physics and collision recurrences, but they can be mostly managed through thorough testing and reinforcing solid walls when needed. The engine is functional, but I feel proper playtesting of your level (again and again) is best way to get a quality final product from it. That goes without saying I know, but its amazing the amount of untested crap that's appearing on there. Maps for those interested: ![]() Paths highlighted: ![]() (Speedrun record is 25 seconds, red route)

This is proving to be very difficult, but I think it will be worth it. |

I signed up a couple of hours ago only for the Saturn pads. I already have three, but they're the eBay kind, so soon I'll be able to add two more definitely real ones to the collection.
What the hell is wrong with me? I never even use the ones I currently have. And now I'll have to remember to cancel PlaySEGA after I get my pads or they'll charge me forever. I think I'll go work on a Sonic level. |

Well I got my PlaySega pad. It arrived in a box with the words "London propaganda" on it.
First initial impressions, I haven't plugged it in to try with any games yet, but the start button is pink not blue the plastic feels cheap, to me the shoulders are VERY clicky the shoulders are more recessed, and looser compared to my official Saturn pad, and my ebay USB pad the d-pad doesn't "feel" like my official saturn d-pads Has a model number of HL-F2412 on the back, a google search bring up this webpage http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/23...ontroller.html So Sega is using Chinese knockoffs :( Sometime this weekend, if I can find the time, I want to try and take it apart to see if the buttons are interchangeable with the official pads. If I find the time to do that I'll post pics of the internals. |

Mama Robotnik, I like your use of springs as a means to allow the player to progress, really clever! I found two things that are keeping your levels from giving me "that classic Sonic feel", namely
1. Too many badniks at once in many places 2. Too many long stretches consisting of floating platforms that make me feel like I'm in space Other than that, they were really well done. |

When I feel like it i'll open it up and fiddle about with the buttons, if they actually worked without applying pressure I would find it fine to use, it's a fun novelty to use it on playsega's megadirve games at least but I won't be using it for SF4 PC.
