#1 DSi game for me is probably Pictobits. It'll have a different name depending on your region.
Reason why I like it, despite not liking any other Art Style game, is because it has nice chip-tuney music (about 16 tracks made by some well-known person), it's a fun, fast-paced puzzle game that I hooked about 5 different people on, and it really is a nostalgic experience if you're an old-school Nintendo fan, with old Nintendo music remizes and a lot of 8 bit sprites, scenes, and stuff... Plus, this game has unlockables. It's 500 points, so if you get it, you'll likely end up getting some other Art Style game anyway. |

Thorium Wars impressions, here we go.
Played through the first two missions and a little bit of the third. It's a vehicle shooter with 1st- and 3rd-person views available. But 3rd-person is useless for firing at enemies since there is no target reticule for that. Vehicles control okay, but there aren't any advanced maneuvers you can do. There's only campaign mode, and you complete the multiple objectives of each mission by destroying enemies. Each one is pretty long -- the first two took me 10-15 minutes each, although it did take me a while to figure out what I'm doing. There's supposed to be 12 missions or something? Oh hell. I hope the game gets better since it hasn't impressed me much yet, and there are these infinite-respawning enemies that come fly around you for the entire mission that are really annoying (they don't do much damage though). Graphics look good for DSi -- 90's 3D. But everything kinda looks uninteresting. I guess it's still too early to give out a recommendation, if it is recommendable. If they had done online multiplayer or arcade-type gameplay (Spectre still rocks), it would have made the game more palatable to me, but I'll see if they can convince me otherwise. EDIT: Oh yeah, the game is 112 blocks. Only 1 more than Asphalt 4 . Asphalt 4 is mediocre and rather boring, btw, like almost every Gameloft game.EDIT2: Just beat Mission 6. Still meh, but whoever designed the level for Mission 6 is sadistic. Ridiculous. EDIT3: Just looked it up, 12 missions total. Last edited by rpmurphy : 10-06-2009 at 03:43 PM. |

I would just like to chime and and say how much I love Art Academy. As someone who can't hardly draw at all, this is exactly the type of thing that I've been hoping for. I'm sure for those who can already draw decently will find the download a waste of time, but for people like me it's just right.

Just a side note...
Nintendo appears to be selling "activation needed" cards through retailers now, as opposed to "live card in plastic bubble package." This might mean that we'll see more retailers carrying Wii/DS Points cards as they can sell them like any OTHER gift card, plain on a rack. |

Scratchies still aren't ideal though, and it would be better if they just had the code printed on them instead. |

it's really awesome that skip is responsible for PICTOBITS and BOXLIFE.
now nintendo just needs to bring over CHIBI ROBO 3 on ds and i'll be a happy skip camper tangentially, browsing the dsi download store i just get this sense that v.c. games are an inevitability. but waiting is fiercely annoying |
