No SuperPlay did in their last magazine. Same guy who reviewed it for LEVEL though. Anything over 8 is to high if you ask me. Sure somethings in the game is 10/10 but not the entire game.
I would give it a 7 or 8.

Brütal Legend - 8, 10 , you say? Interesting.

On a wholly unrelated note, that cover is great. What game is that?

Great indeed, like the time when Level/SuperPlay journalist Thomas Wiborgh gushed all over Halo 2 for like 4 pages giving it an OUTSTANDING best of the best 10/10.
.. and we all know how that game ended up (saved by it's multiplayer, faaar from flawless).

Great, you're amazing, you managed to find a subjective flaw in a video game magazine that's been out for 10 years!

Success!

Wtf, what are you, 10?

Ratchet seems to be getting lots of 7s :(

I know I'll still love it but I can't help but feel Insomniac were better when they only concentrated on one game at a time.

One of many, which after awhile makes you take anything they put out with a grain of salt. I used to be a subsriber to both SuperPlay and Level.
Atm I'm not big fan of what either of those magazines are offering, which ofc is my opnion and you are entitled to disagree.
Let's just leave it at that.

I'm 21, don't see how that is relevant though.

They are, while the programmers are working on resistance, the designers are working on ratchet and vice versa. The main problem with Ratchet is that it hardly does anything new.

I shall retract abit from my formar harsh statements and say that there's on thing I do like about Level.
They are not afraid to use the whole (well more than only 9s and 10s) scale when giving scores.

Enjoying BL muchly, although it does have a few pretty silly design flaws. Nordic countries are pretty hugely into their metal so the 10 is not that surprising...10s are thrown about too often these days...this game certainly doesn't deserve that kind of score

But not everyone rates games with mathematic equasions. If the review guy had a blast with the game (whatever the reasons might be) a few flaws in the game won't necessarily have to reduce the number from "10".

please don't type the word "consistent" in this thread. I might get mad.

In my opinion if your reviewscore is not backed up by the reviewtext you have done something wrong.

True that. Sometims you read a review and the text says something like: "This might be one of the best games ever" 8/10. Wtf?

That didn't have anything to do with my post? Of course you need to back up the score with the text. My point was that many reviewers don't think of games as "100%" and then start decreasing that number as flaws start to show up.

I agree with the 8 for Brutal Legend. I don't think I will agree with the 6 and 7 for Borderlands but I will not judge until Zavvi get their fingers out of their asses and get me my game =(

In a way it did have something to do with what you wrote. Even if a reviewer have a blast playing a game, if the review text say the games have flaws, it SHOULD be reflected in the review score (but many do not do this).

No it SHOULD NOT if the magazines scoring system doesn't require it.
