PS3 drop not only has a profoundly larger first effect than the Wii price drop, but it also has better legs.
Nintendo getting out-legged is rare. I still think "hysterical panic" is an appropriate response to the Wii's predicament in Japan, by the way! |

NSMB Wii will hopefully be that software kick in the ass Wii needs. |

In absolute terms the Wii didn't get nearly as big a bump, and is hitting lower faster. I guess you're defining it by the relative drop off after the first week or whatever? Wii's relative drop off after the first week hasn't been as steep of course, but it's increase wasn't nearly as sharp in the first place either so that's not so difficult.. |

GCN only sold approx. 273K in 2005, with weekly numbers in the first half of the year around 3,200/wk generally. PS3 should start picking up sales on the GCN's historical number around 8-9 "GCN weeks" at a time per "PS3 week" now. As long as PS3 numbers stay reasonably steady, and get the expected holiday/FFXIII bump, the "PS3=GCN LOL" meme will be very dead rather soon. |
