Okami - Retro Soundtrack aka 8-bit Heaven #1

I'm a big fan of Okami. It's a wonderful game, with gorgeous visuals and wonderfully composed music. The soundtrack really stands out for me in particular. Anyways, I recently learned that there were 8-bit versions of Okami tracks on the Okami JP website that came out when Okami was first released on the PS2. I have to say, the midi arrangements are catchy as heck. Give it a gander why don't you?

Okamiden should have music of this style as an unlockable, just like a certain other DS game (but it's a spoiler if I say here).

Capcom is still good at the chiptune goodness (Megaman 9 had a great soundtrack) so I'd love to see them do more.

Edit: Also, upon listening, it is in NES style, with the extra Famicom Disk System wave channel.

I love that one.

The 7th Dragon one is even better and makes the lack of an English release even more painful. Alas, it's not up anywhere.

I've heard these before. Absolutely beautiful. And the original soundtrack is worth every penny.

I disagree, these chiptune remixes don't hold up as well to the original compositions IMO since Okami's soundtrack relied a lot more on the orchestration to give its songs more of an epic feeling.

I agree, these are kind of cool but the interplay between the instruments in the original is pretty much lost. Not horrible though.

Someone should do an NES style retro 8-bit demake of this game.
Just for shits and giggles.

Just Okami 1 though, of course. Wouldn't want them to bite off more than they can chew. ;p

Different tastes, who cares.
I like this more because I enjoy Okami's OST more.

Apparently, you can download these songs in 192kbs if you scrounge around the site. I can't read Japanese, but kudos to whoever's up to it.

Unopened. Unplayed.

I realy need to play this (and I know some people would be willing to do anything to be in my situation right now and discover the game all over again).

ZX Advent has an 8-bit mini game of sorts after you beat it. I failed so hard at it though, but it was cool.

Yeah, just spotted it in the MegaUpload link, it just wasn't on YouTube. It doesn't seem to translate quite as well though.
