Resident Evil: Afterlife (film) updates #1

Above: Presumably Chris (he seems to have spotted the person snapping photos, heh), Alice (weird hairdo going on there Milla), Claire (yay she's got a red jacket!), and K-Mart ()

Article quoting Milla's Twitter:

Originally Posted by shocktillyoudrop.com:
"One of the scenes we're shooting today is the last scene in the movie and the guys had to invent something that could take a 3d camera that high and far," she Tweeted this morning. "The technology we're using is all so new and cutting edge that you can't just buy rigs premade to get the shots we want! Its so exciting though, to think that we're inventing things on this movie that will probably be standard in 5 years time!"

Later, she continued with "I fly a small aircraft in this film and they did a shot of it landing on the boat we're on the night before last and get this, all the people who live in the skyscrapers around the harbor phoned 911 reporting a plane crash on the ship! how rad! they got HUNDREDS of call!"

Apparently things are coming along nicely according to this later Tweet, "So cool! (Director) Paul (W.S. Anderson) just told us the dailys from the last few days look INCREDIBLE!!! (dailys is the latest footage that's been shot already)"

Next, The Executioner enemy character (same one from Resident Evil 5?) will make an appearance:

Quote:
Most recently, she wrote, "They were of the big action sequence with Alice and Claire fighting THE EXECUTIONER who in reality is an 8 ft. tall heavy weight boxer! He has a HUGE axe and we're in a prison shower, so every time he swings the axe, showers explode! So thru the whole scene its literally raining! so beautiful!"

I don't know why I keep getting excited for these movies. I thought the first one was bad but spectacularly entertaining, the 2nd was worse but it had Nemesis and as a fanboy it was difficult for me to completely hate it, and I actually really liked the third one. At any rate, I thought these updates were interesting, and it took 4 movies to get Chris Redfield on board

Lol @ the Chris Redfield casting.

I so expected a different actor. This is a pretty lousy casting, imo.

Same.

The ending to the second one was one of the dumbest things I've seen in the entirety of this franchise, though.

Then I saw the entirety of the third one. How the fuck are they going to outdo that one?!

Well, he's more like RE1's Chris than RE5's.
We'll see.

I hated the first movie, the second one was kinda okay except for Nemesis becoming good at the end ?? WTF ??. Didn't watch the third movie and Degeneration.

If they're worse than the first one, I guess I should be glad I never watched the sequels.

Pretty funny that Wentworth Miller's expression spotted that photo snapper!

The thing about Exticntion, is that if you remove teh characters and a few things that connected it to Apocalypse, it was mroe of a seque lto teh first movie..in look , connection and feel..
The White Queen (being a "sister" of the Red Queen), the testing facility being a remake of the mansion/lab of the first movie..the lasers..

In any case, there seems to be a few connections with RE5 in Afterlife..and there was some crazy rumor sometime ago about Jill in Afterlife, explaining her dissaperance from Extinction and she reappearing in this new movie...people that finished RE5 will have a small idea to what happened to Jill, but eveyrthing's a rumor for now..and I kinda doubt the do it..

Also..at least they gave Chris his "trademark knife" and a red jacket to Claire..
And the clones will be in the movie, Milla confirmed it sometime ago..

Miller as Chris Redfield is a hoot.

I really hated the first two movies, never bothered with the third one. The flat Degenration was actually better.

Because they make money?

This is still the only successful game franchise to translate into a successful film franchise.

What exactly is wrong with Wentworth Miller as Chris Redfield? This comes up every time there's a videogame/movie discussion on GAF but you all realize an actor doesn't need to look EXACTLY like the video game character right? It's an adaptation. Really the only important thing for a Chris Redfield character is that the actor would be able to play a buff, military character, and Wentworth Miller can do that. I don't see the issue here.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding and it's not about looks and people hate Miller's acting? I think he's alright. Usually GAFers seem to whine about unmatching looks so that's the assumption I'm making.

I'd ask why Milla, but we already know it's $$$

I'd also like to ask, why Milla???? There are other talented actresses out there, seeing her play this role is getting tiring.

New story, eliminate the Milla, and give us something we haven't seen before and you've got my moniez.

That's the thing..no matter who they casted, people were going to whine anyway...
As I said in another thread, David Boreanaz is the closest...as a well known actor that looks like RE5 Chris, yet many would have been like "lol Angel is Chris" or "lol Bones sux"..

Well, apparently this will be the last one of the Alice story, there's a new trilogy planned...with other characters and stuff..

That guy looks nothing like Chris but it could have been much worse. I'm glad they are actually trying to put characters from the game in it. I wish it would be more horror and less action though.

Honestly, I think Miller's acting would be perfect for Chris. He has only one, squinting facial expression, but it would fit nicely such a bidimensional character.
I have more problems with his constitution (he got a bit overweight during the fourth season of Prison Break, but the photo seems to suggest he might have gotten slimmer again) and voice, but anyway it's not a bad casting if you ask me.

Did you hear? Roger Avary is writing the script while in jail, he's got his own PC, an internet connection, posts a lot on his Twitter account about prison life and is scripting away Silent Hill 2 in his cell

But seriously... what an absolutely perfect setting to script that film in.

Though there's nothing to be excited abut Silent Hill 2..since the director (Roger Avary, who wrote along with Gans the first film) was sentenced to serve 1 year in prison for driving under influence and manslaughter....along with 5 years of probation...that was on Septmeber 29, 2009..so he will be out by September / October 2010.

Maybe they'll get a new director though...

EDIT:
Also, what brandon posted..

The first one is a bad movie in its own right, but comapared to the sequels it's an absolute masterpiece. The third one was incredibly bad. Why don't they just follow the games? I know it's not the best writing, but it's leagues better than the movies.
