I see Michael Moore a lot around town, when I was 16 I worked at mcdonalds for like a week and he pulled up to the drive thru I was working at. Fucker bought like 10 double cheeseburgers. I saw Jerry Rice once. I think I saw Jeff Daniels from Dumb and Dumber, but it might have just been some guy.

I forget which GAFer it was, but I believe this happened at Burger King, Michael Moore asked if he could have some change for food. The GAFer gave it to him, and Michael Moore proceeded to talk crap to him on his website :lol

Met two famous science people, Axel Kahn and Sir John Walker.

A couple of years ago, I was going to catch my bus to go to my univ, and some foxy blonde got out of a rally car parked in front of my flat. Closely followed by Henri Leconte. Apparently they were going to buy stuff in a veggie and bio shop. I was like wtf.

I remember hitting on this chick in a St. Paul Outback that looked like Rachel Leigh Cook at the height of her fame (2000). I nearly got her number when an "embarrassing family moment" killed that plan.

Later that night, I was in Barnes and Noble and picked up the very first issue of FHM that had RLC on the cover. The front cashier was like "oh, you like her?" Yeah, I said, she's cute I suppose. I was about to tell her my story about this cute girl who looked like RLC when:

"Yeah, her older sister went to high school with me. She actually lives down the street from here, I see her at Outback all the time..."

I've met a bunch of comic book "famous" people: Rob Liefield, Todd Nauck, John Cassaday, Marv Wolfman, Warren Ellis, Matt Wagner, Neil Gaiman, Daniel Clowes, etc. I worked in the industry awhile and you can't help but get to know most of the people once you've done a couple of cons together.

I've also met some musicians through my brother, but most of them are weird noise bands, including K.K. Null from Masonna, who is tiny and incredibly polite. I went backstage for L7 and Courtney Love and got to "meet" Courtney when she told me to get the fuck out of her way. The gals from L7 were cool though.

I worked down the road from Dallas Cowboy's Training Camp for a year or so, at the closest Blockbuster, back in '89-'90, so I met basically the entire team from that period. They were very large people with bad taste in movies.

And I once ate dinner with Kerry and Kevin von Erich. Kerry ate like a caveman, replete with grunts.

Apparently once in an elevator in downtown Vancouver probably 10 years ago approx, myself and my parents were in an elevator with Ryan Phillipe (sp?), and he was much shorter guy than me, I'm like 6'2 and he kept eying how tall i was in comparison to him. Only after the fact did I realise who that guy was and had to have my parents tell me this as we got off the elevator. It was an encounter, not an actual meeting then.

I also crossed paths with Vanessa Lengies back in Feb 2004, a young canadian starlet at the time I had a crush on... I was on the Mike Bullard show (unfunny canadian comedian and talk show host), and I went there just to see her. I ended up shaking hands with Mike Bullard at the end of the show when the credits were rolling.

I once said hello to Marion Raven, a former member of the pop/rock group M2M, after their setlist was finished supporting Jewel. She ignored me cuz I looked like a creepy douche at the time and was behaving shady.

I once had a chance to go to an autograph signing for the Matthew Good Band before they broke up, I didn't go cuz I was scared they would laugh in my face cuz I'd be too starstruck.

I said "Yeah, you should visit more often" and he laughed and gave me a pat on the head.

Shook hands with and got the autograph of Miyamoto, twice. Also, once when I was in London for a couple of days, I crossed a road when suddenly a Ferrari came thundering towards me. I jumped back just in time to not get run down, and glimpsed a very angry looking John Cleese inside. He should've hit me so I could sue him. But he IS John Cleese, so I probably would have just said thank you and smiled anyway.

I've met a ton of Z grade celebs at comic cons and such, and our "Gamestop University" always has celebs you can meet if you are willing to stand in line....

Carrie Fisher @ Toronto Fan Expo was awesome. She was really snarky and funny. She also looked like she would turn to dust if you touched her.

I met James Callis (Dr. Baltar from the new Battlestar Galactica) @ the same con. He saw my friends and I in Red Sox gear and mentioned he had attended his first baseball game a few weeks ago. He said "I had no idea what the hell was going on, but I kept drinking and booing Barry Bonds".

I got to meet MMA fighter Gina Carano @ Gamestop U a few years back. She was super nice and super hot, and she smelled good.

One of the highlights of my life (I'm not kidding) was meeting Stan Lee. All I could do was stammer "Thank you, you have no idea what your work has ment to my life" and he shook my hand and said "No, thank you true believer!". I nearly shat myself and had a nervous breakdown all at once.

I saw John Hannah (Scottish guy from The Mummy movies but also respected actor in the UK) on a bus in London. I was sitting on the top (double decker bus) and I saw him walking up the stairs very slowly, eye-balling everyone up here as he was walking towards a seat. He sat for about 10 minutes or so, and then he and his wife make their way down the stairs to get off the bus. Instead, after walking down the stairs, they walk back to their seats and John Hannah is still eye-balling everyone to see if anyone notices him. Nobody cares. He then talks loudly (but not too loudly so as to obviously draw attention) in his Scottish brogue over his mobile phone. Nobody cared.

John Hannah also looks homeless on weekdays.

Chris Carter threw my buddy up against a wall by his neck.

Johnny Bench slammed my hand in a car door.

George Steinbrenner punched me in the chest (kiddingly) when I was 8.

Stu Scott tried to have me kicked out of a club and got himself tossed instead.

Those were the only real eventful times. Though I did almost piss myself when I met Gretzky. Not so much with Barry Melrose, who is just as hilarious looking in person as he is in real life.

I turned a corner in some hall at a comic con and Tara from Buffy walked into me and Xander helped us up, they're just like the characters..

Oh and I ate lunch with Mark Waid and Devin Grayson on accident. The food place was packed and he asked to sit with us. Also my girlfriend talked to George Perez for like 20 minutes about sharpies. I think she was trying to bang him. :lol
After a Veruca Salt show I got to hang with them for like an hour and a half. They gave us beer and Louise was hot.

Roddy Mcdowall came into my video store I was working at and bought a bunch of movies. I was all alone and my boss didn't believe me until I showed him the credit card reciept.

Those were the cool ones..to me anyways.

That's unbelievably sweet. I don't know if there's more to tell about that, but I'd love to hear the story.

As for me, the only real celebrity encounters I've had were due to political stuff.

I was a college organizer for the Obama campaign from August to November 2008, and so when Howard Dean came to speak at a nearby school, I had the chance to go. I shook his hand, got a picture, talked with him for a little while... he's a little intense, but seemed to be a nice guy. I didn't bring up The Scream.

Martin Sheen came to speak at my school on behalf of Al Franken in 2008. The man is batshit insane. In a good way. I'm not sure whether it was his idea or not, but I saw him bless a pregnant woman's unborn child. Catholicly. But it was actually pretty cool. He was supposed to get up and speak in in a decently packed ballroom-type building when all the power went out. There were a fair bunch of windows, so it didn't affect the lighting all that much, but, obviously, no microphones. He didn't care. He just got up in front, and in quite possibly the most booming voice I have ever heard, proceeded to speak at length for at least half an hour on poetry, politics, religion, and the merits of Al Franken. Very cool for a West Wing fan. I got my picture taken, shook his hand, talked with him for a minute or so... that sort of thing.

Also in the West Wing/Al Franken vein, Bradley Whitford came to my school a couple days after the 2008 election. At that point, we knew there was going to be a Senate recount, and for whatever reason, Al's campaign decided to host their fire-up-and-train-the-volunteers meeting at my school. And, for whatever reason, Al decided to bring Bradley Whitford along. He had a mustache. It was kind of weird.

I met Kal Penn (Kumar, that guy from House, and now a member of the Obama administration) twice, once during the February primaries, and once about a month before the actual election. He was part of the Obama campaign's college celebrity outreach division. (Our snotty rival school got Scarlett Johansson, so screw them.) But anyway, on his first trip, as I was part of the school's College Democrats contingent, I got to sit in our cafeteria and eat lunch with him as hundreds of random students realized what was going on. Second trip, I escorted him from his car to where he was speaking. He's a genuinely nice guy, and it's too bad he'll always be known more for being Kumar than just about anything else.

I also think I met golfer Tom Lehman once when I was about 8.

In college I lived out in edge of Austin place called Lakeway. Nice golf community Jack Nicklaus developed. I worked at the only gas station in town. So many well know people would stop by and have their oil changed. So they would wait in the front and I was the cashier, had some very interesting conversations with so many people. Its amazing what you can get offering someone some free coffee.

Just the list I can think off the top off my head:

John Wayne - I was fairly young, he was doing a business deal with my dad, but still the man was the personification of what he showed on the big screen. (You could tell he was nice, but could kick your butt if he wanted too)

Jack Nicklaus
Tom Landry - THE nicest guy I have ever met, drove an old beat up 60's Rolls. So down to earth and gave everyone respect and answered questions to anyone that came in. That man was the definition of class.

Dan Rather - First time he came into the gas station, I did not recognize him. He had on workout clothes. Someone in front of me recognized him and that hows I got to know him. He would come in quite a bit as well. Really odd to see him out of a suit. Nothing bad to say about the man, and he had a TON of stories from his reporting experiences.

Roger Staubach - See Tom Landry, another great guy a little more business that Mr Landry though. - I still have a football he signed for me when he was playing.

Walt Garrison - We had a Antique store next door to his shop, which he was the rep for Skoal, Copenhagen, etc. - Yes I had a unlimited supply of the stuff, which I just couldn't get into it.

George Bush Sr. - Met at Walt Garrisons store - This was when he was Vice President.

Randy White, Drew Pearson, Danny White - Many other cowboys that would come through the store.

Eric Johnson - Lived next door to my brother before he was famous, always playing that damned guitar early into the morning. Missed a few opportunities to go hang there.

Quite a few Pro golfers and many Arizona Cardinals players who lived there as well.

Goodness, there are many more. I have been very blessed to met so many different people in my few years.

Phil, the lead singer of All That Remains shops at my Gamestop.

WWE/TNA wrestler Stevie Richards shopped at my old Gamestop. I knew who it was right away, but he was a good customer so we made it a store thing to not bother him/ask him about wrestling. He was really nice.

Some reggae band called TOK (???) was signing at the FYE in a mall where I worked at another EB Games. 99% of the staff had no idea, but one employee was beside himself about it so he went to get stuff signed. When they heard he worked at Eb they came down after and dropped like 2 grand on games and signed a poster that said "BIG UPS TO EB GAMES from TOK!!!" It hung in our stockroom for a year.

Grace Park (Boomer on BSG) was the worst celeb I ever met. Wouldn't talk to you or personalize the autograph. It cost 50$ to meet her, 25$ to get into the shittiest sci fi con in the Northeast, and 20$ for the picture she signed...and she couldn't say Hi or write "To ___" on it.
